Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe Senior Programme Coordinator Jobs in Ethiopia;Oversee and manage Johanniter operations in Ethiopia. Expand presence, lead fundraising and networking, represent Johanniter with authorities and donors, and support project staff and partners in effective programme implementation.

Responsibilities

Strategy & Vision

  • Support Johanniter values and contribute to country, regional and global strategies.

  • Promote organisational culture of diversity, inclusion and self‑reflection.

    Leadership

  • Lead by example, empower team members and uphold Code of Conduct.

    Representation

  • Represent Johanniter with Ethiopian authorities, UN, INGOs and NGOs.

  • Ensure compliance with Ethiopian regulations.

  • Build external relationships with donors and stakeholders.

  • Monitor humanitarian developments and manage emergency response.

    Programme Development

  • Identify new programme opportunities through assessments.

  • Lead project development and proposal writing.

  • Assess and build partnerships with organisations.

  • Support contract management and fundraising.

    Programme Management

  • Design, plan and coordinate projects in line with needs and policies.

  • Supervise implementation and review management systems.

  • Support partners in project cycle management.

  • Ensure cost‑effective planning, monitoring and evaluation.

  • Coordinate activities between field sites and country office.

  • Support donor compliance and reporting.

  • Build capacity of partners and staff.

    Monitoring & Evaluation

  • Ensure monitoring systems are in place.

  • Promote accountability and
    transparency.

  • Monitor humanitarian situation and propose responses.

  • Work closely with PMEAL focal point.

    Human Resources & Team Management

  • Recruit and hire national staff.

  • Promote accountability and provide feedback.

  • Support individual and team development.

    Safeguarding

  • Promote integrity, respect and accountability.

  • Apply zero‑tolerance policy for harm, corruption, fraud and SEAH.

    Safety & Security

  • Update security regulations and contingency plans.

  • Ensure staff safety and monitor security situation.

  • Maintain contact with security networks.

    Communication

  • Support media and press work.

  • Contribute to reports and updates.

    Gender

  • Integrate Gender Minimum Standards with measurable targets.

    Requirements

    Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in relevant field.

    Experience

  • Ethiopian national only.

  • 5 – 7 years in humanitarian context, preferably INGOs.

  • Experience in capacity building, partnerships, proposal writing and reporting.

  • Experience in monitoring, evaluation and assessments.

  • Experience in security management in high‑risk areas.

  • Previous senior management experience in Ethiopia essential.

    Skills

  • Strong management, planning and organisational skills.

  • Analytical, communication and reporting skills.

  • Negotiation and diplomatic abilities.

  • Sensitivity to cross‑cultural dynamics.

  • Computer literacy.

  • Fluency in English and Amharic.

  • Good sense of humour.
