The successful candidate will report to the to the Commercial Manager – Southern and East Africa

The Successful Applicant

In order to be shortlisted for vacancy, the successful candidate will have the following skills and competencies, (but not limited to):-

  • B Com Degree in Logistics or Business Management

  • Post Graduate Qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or Transport Economics. MBA or master’s in supply chain / Transport Economics would be an advantage.

  • Must be a Ugandan citizen or have the legal right to work in Uganda.

  • 10+ years experience with: Cross Border Logistics, Project Logistics and Heavy Lift, International Shipping, Customs Clearing, Supply chain Management and Commercial, sales and marketing.

  • 5+ years in a senior management position, with experience coordinating and managing global logistics projects.

  • Ability to set and achieve annual revenue targets.

  • Strong business acumen

  • Ability to create and monitor effective business development strategies for the company

  • Able to deal effectively with customer demands from an operational perspective.

  • Relevant Marketing and service design knowledge

  • Strong overall personnel management, delegation, and training skills of the logistics team in Africa

  • Strong problem-solving ability and identification of departmental needs and potential threats

  • Able to travel extensively in Africa as and when required.

  • Ability to converse in basic Portuguese, Italian or French will be an advantage.

  • Contract Law or International Shipping and Logistics Legal experience

  • Must have own motor vehicle and valid driver’s license.

    The role responsibilities will include, (but not limited to):-

  • Logistics Opportunity Pipeline

  • Identifying suitable growth opportunities, in line with company strategy

  • Developing integrated logistics solutions for each opportunity in line with overall company service capability and footprint

    Profitable growth

  • Management and execution of the Logistics Opportunity Pipeline

  • Development of Cross Border and Project Logistics business, integrating service offering

  • Building and maintaining strong and sustainable customer relationships to ensure exposure and increased sales

    Operational Excellence

  • Proactively provide ongoing smart client research and industry-specific information

  • Monitoring the company's operational performance against service level agreements

    Administration

  • Financial Management and Administration of new business

  • Overseeing, maintaining, and improving processing systems and ensuring quality compliance to internal ISO systems

  • Ensuring processes and procedures comply with legislation, customer requirements, as well as operational demands

  • Effectively controlling and reporting on expenditure

  • Developing and providing annual budget recommendations for consolidation into overall East Africa business plan
