Main purpose of the job

  • To recruit and retain eligible participants for the study

  • To facilitate the informed consent process and to conduct interviews/survey

  • To provide communication link between participants and staff

  • To assist with organizational research functions.

    Location

  • Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, Soweto - Johannesburg

    Key performance areas

  • Build trust between participants, the community and the study

  • Recruit eligible participants

  • Retain participants in the study

  • Schedule study visits for participants

  • Conduct follow up visits or telephone calls with participants timeously according to the schedule for the day

  • Perform Informed Consent process

  • Conduct survey interviews

  • Perform fieldwork activities as required

  • Perform study administration duties as and when required

  • Manage and reply to project-related correspondence

  • Preparing daily, weekly and monthly recruitment reports as required

  • Participate in project meetings

    Required minimum education and training

  • Matric or equivalent

  • Basic Counseling Certificate

    Required minimum work experience

  • 1-2 years’ experience in research

    Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities

  • Ability to work in a complex and demanding environment

  • Strong verbal communication skills

  • Excellent English language proficiency – verbal and written

  • Ability to speak different local languages

  • Attention to detail, teamwork and problem-solving skills

  • It is expected that he will applies consistent adherence to research and GCP practices

  • Excellent computer literacy using MS Excel and MS Word

  • Code 10 driver’s license with PDP
