Jesuit Refugee Service is a Catholic international humanitarian organization, with a mission to accompany, serve and defend the rights of refugees and forcibly displaced people.

JRS has a priority to work wherever the needs of displaced people are urgent, and offers a human service to refugees and the communities through a wide range of rehabilitation and relief activities most of which centre around formal and informal education needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out teacher training sessions to the refugee and the host community teachers in Maban County Upper Nile State – South Sudan – to enable them have access to quality education in teaching skills.
  • Implement the Education related activities in the Solidarity Teacher Training College (STTC) JRS Maban Campus and Refugees Camps in Maban in collaboration with the Education Coordinator-Teacher Training and the team of STTC Tutors.
  • Take responsibility for particular subjects or Academic Department as per indication of the Education Coordinator-Teacher Training.

    Requirements

    Essential:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Education or its equivalent.
  • At least 1-2 years’ experience in Primary Teacher Training/Tutoring
  • Experience in managing people/teams.
  • Demonstrated experience and commitment to working with marginalized communities.
  • Very good analytical, strategic thinking and planning skills.
  • Very good monitoring and evaluation skills/experience.
  • Very good knowledge of MS word, Excel/Office.
  • Excellent oral and written English.
  • Ability to build effective partnership and collaborate with other team members
  • Patience, perseverance and ability to work in stressful environment
  • Excellent communicability and interpersonal skills
