Organizational Context:

Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is an international Catholic organization, with a mission to accompany, serve and defend the rights of refugees and forcibly displaced people.

JRS has a priority to work wherever the needs of displaced people are urgent and unattended by others, and offers a human service to refugees and the communities through a wide range of rehabilitation and relief activities, many of which center around formal and informal education needs.

JRS Education Department is the main provider in Maban of certified Teacher Training Programmes and currently has over 500 teachers in training.

JRS also offers quality opportunities to learn English Language, both spoken and written.

Classes and instruction are offered to refugees and members of the host Community as well as to staff of partner organisations.

Position Description

JRS is seeking to recruit a suitable candidate for the position of Assistant Coordinator for Quality Assurance (Education) This position’s primary responsibility will be to ensure Education service delivery is at the highest possible standard.

The successful candidate will be familiar with all aspects of service delivery including the impact on students.

The person appointed will also assist in managing the databases and information systems for the department, ensuring they are accurate and up-to-date at all times.

This position will also have a major role to play in the reporting of activities to founders by consolidating information and periodically analyzing it for trends.

This position will serve to centralize the procurement and logistics operations in the department and will report to the Education Coordinator.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that the assessments (Continuous Assessments Tests and Exams) are done within the stipulated timelines and adhere to the quality requirements of the Curriculum
  • Ensuring that the curriculum is faithfully adhered to by the tutors
  • Ensuring that the tutors have access to and use appropriate teaching and learning resources while delivering content in classes and are supported with Continued Professional Development Opportunities.
  • Ensuring that mid-term and end of term/course evaluations are done and the data analysed (M&E)
  • Ensuring that examination results are entered correctly and on time, analysed and a
    report generated for reference
  • Keeping, updating and maintaining individual academic files of both in-service and per-service trainees
  • Follow-up of transition phases of our beneficiaries and understating the impact of other pull factors that draw students away from learning and devising strategies to address these issues.
  • Ensure field data is collected on time and accurately entered into the database and maintain databases so they are up-to-date at all times
  • Contribute to weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports with the collected data
  • Periodically analyse data for trends, gaps, and opportunities to serve the people of Maban (Host community, IDP’s, and refugees) better and more equally
  • Support procurement of project materials and manage its documentation

    Qualifications & Experience:

    Essentials

  • Degree in Education or other related fields.
  • Post graduate Award in Education or related field.
  • Minimum 5 year of professional/academic experience in a learning environment with clear management and leadership experience.
  • Proven experience of overseeing delivery of Education Programmes.
  • Mastery of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Outlook
  • Excellent oral and written English
  • Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and comply with operating procedures
  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Demonstrated experience and commitment to working with marginalized communities
  • Ability to work under time constraints and meet deadlines in hardship and stressful situations
  • Proactive and self-motivated

    Desirable

  • Oral and Written Arabic language
  • Experience with JRS
  • Working experience in education in emergencies
  • Understanding of the role of faith-based institutions in humanitarian work and ensuring its mission and values are envisioned in all the work
  • Knowledge and experience in Teacher Training Programmes
  • Knowledge and experience of Teaching English as a foreign Language.
