Job Scope:

The Head of Credit is a Senior-Level position responsible for overseeing and managing the Credit Operations. This role involves developing and implementing credit policies, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and managing the overall credit risk of Izwe Kenya. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for shaping the credit strategy to support Izwe’s strategic goals while maintaining a balanced and healthy credit portfolio.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field; advanced degree (Master's or MBA added advantage)

  • Credit Risk Certified (CRC), or other relevant credit certifications added advantage.

    Desired Work Experience:

  • 3-5 years’ experience

  • Experience in credit management, with a proven track record of progressively increasing responsibilities. Previous experience in a leadership role is highly desirable (Credit Analyst, Credit Manager).

  • Excellent knowledge of International Accounting and Audit Standards, and Legislations.

    Knowledge & Skills:

  • Credit and Financial analysis; review of restructuring/credit/debt settlement proposals for management/Board approval.

  • Work closely with relationship managers to understand customer needs, address credit-related concerns, and ensure effective communication between credit analysis and
    customer-facing teams.

  • Proven leadership experience, including managing and developing high-performance teams.

  • Strong understanding of financial analysis, risk assessment, and credit modelling

  • Credit risk management: experience in credit risk assessment and provision of practical mitigations to prevent any probable credit losses.

  • Loan portfolio management: closely supervising loan portfolios to ensure compliances to the terms and conditions of the loan contracts.

  • Knowledge and effective application of all relevant banking policies, processes, and procedures.

  • Negotiation skills.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
