Islamic Relief NGO Project Supervisor Jobs in Kenya


Purpose

Building sustainable livelihoods represents one of the broad based Programmes adopted by Islamic Relief in its institutional strategic plan. The programme focuses on the poor and primarily rural communities with the aim of strengthening their access to resources in order to strengthen food security and income generation.

Responsibilities:

Project Administration and Operation

  • Implementation of the Youth Social and Economic empowerment project in accordance with the project requirements and work plan.
  • Organize and execute youth development training as per the set activity work plan in collaboration with the line manager and the external experts.
    Project Supervisor- Development
  • Monitor youth groups economic activities initiated through the project for technical advice and link them to other private sector players for partnership.
  • Work with youth training institutions to ensure that the targeted youths are enrolled for technical skills development training
  • Work with local partners in advocacy efforts around strategic issues affecting youth livelihood in Mandera and ensure youth participation in the county government processes.
  • Identify existing and emerging challenges facing the youths in the target community and
    recommend suitable sustainable innovative approaches of addressing the gaps.
  • Link with other related interventions run by IRK in Mandera to ensure synergy and avoiding duplication of activities.
  • Work with the project staff in the development of other sustainable development Programmes appropriate for the target location.
  • Monitor and mentor the field GSLA promoters
  • Compile all projects monitoring information on a regular basis and documentation of lessons learnt from field visits and project activities.
  • Maintain service-oriented culture to achieve service excellence objective.
    Training/Meeting/ Forums
  • Prepare and conduct community sensitization forums/meetings with community youth leaders and other opinion leaders.
  • Document lessons learned from training activities, community meeting and assist in preparing training reports
  • Represent IRK in Youth Livelihood forums in the assigned area.
  • Participate in Youth Advocacy forums in Mandera County.
    Design, Monitoring and Evaluation activities
  • Participate in the development of appropriate tools for monitoring and reporting include Detailed implementation plans (DIPs) and M&E Plans.
  • Participate in regular lessons learned feedback sessions with the project team

    Qualifications:

  • Advanced Diploma on Entrepreneurship related field, Development studies, economics or any other related fields. A Bachelor’s degree in similar fields will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of at least Three years’ experience in sustainable livelihood, vocational training and enterprise development Programmes targeting youths.
  • Vast experience in youth livelihood Programmes –planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and learning.
  • Knowledge of the key issues/challenges and trends with regard to youths’ livelihood in pastoral communities.
  • Excellent command of the most common methodologies to identify, execute and monitor GSLA activities, with proven record of achievements;
  • Experience in the use of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc) and knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages.
  • Ability to provide continuous input on the organization’s processes, implementation of new systems etc
  • Strong planning, organization and problem solving skills with ability to work hands-on,
    independently, and within a team

    Islamic Relief NGO Agricultural Irrigation Engineer Jobs in Kenya

    Purpose

    IRK is currently seeking Agricultural Engineer for a resilience project implemented in Moyale sub-county. The post-holder will have a strong focus on assisting the projects small farmers and support in the construction of the water dam. The officer is expected to oversee planning, design and construction of the water pan that will help community during the time of drought through water catchment

    Responsibilities

  • Plan, design and support in the construction process of the project proposed water dams;
  • Develop project Detailed Implementation Plan
    (DIP), Monitoring and Evaluation Plan, project tracking matrix among others for the plan, design, construction and use of the dam.
  • Participate in the project surveys including; research surveys, assessments and evaluation as may be necessary from time to time.
  • lead environmental impact assessment and guide community and the contractor on the best way of managing the reports for sustainability of the dam;
  • Ensure that excavation of the pan is done as per the laid environmental protection plans and as the findings from the engineering reports
  • Take charge of all dam developments;
  • Ensure and determine regulatory requirements with county and national governments.
  • To carry out sub-surface investigation such as soil samples and analysis to inform the construction process;
  • Designs, makes and understand an irrigation system that will give the most excellent result to an area.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a system to schedule and monitor progress through to completion of regulatory requirements.
  • Manage or perform studies, evaluations, inspections, and drills required to support compliance.
  • support in Agricultural resilience component of the project

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental and Biosystems Engineer, Agriculture Engineer, irrigation or any other related field.
  • Minimum of at least for three years’ experience in designing and construction of water pans, dams etc.
  • Knowledge of the key issues and trends in Food Security and Livelihood as well as DRR work in the ASALs. Ability to work on your own initiative as well as a part of a team.
  • Proven analytical skills and ability to think strategically. Fluency in English – written and verbal
  • Experience in Field data analysis packages and effective IT Skills (Microsoft Office).
  • Planning, narrative and financial reporting skills, Communication, tact and negotiation skills and Conceptual understanding of participatory approach and sustainable development.

    Islamic Relief NGO Finance Assistant Jobs in Kenya

    Purpose

    To assist in finance related tasks in line with agreed and accepted IR financial practices and procedures.

    Responsibilities

    Payments:

  • Preparation of and vouching of transaction supporting documentations as required by Islamic Relief procedures.
  • Writing of cheques
  • Issuing cheques to suppliers.
  • Ensure all transactions are adequately supported prior to payment.
  • Ensure that all vouchers are well approved
    Bank
  • Reconciling Banks for Moyale Office and also keep updated record for the bank account.
    Recording
  • Recording of petty cash transactions and cash book maintenance. Ensure reconciliation of the petty cash balance daily and to get it approved by the finance officer.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor in Business management (finance option) or related field
  • At least 3 year experience in procurement management in NGO set-up
  • Effective IT Skills (Word & Excel).
  • Communication, tact and negotiation skills.
  • Fluent in Written and spoken English.
