Job Summary

  • Under the supervision of the area program coordinator, the OVC Service Officer will be responsible to provide technical support and follow-up of provision of comprehensive OVC and primary HIV prevention services to 9-14 adolescents for the family focused HIV prevention, care and treatment to sub partners assigned to the area program office.

  • This includes case identification, rapid need assessment and provision of services .

  • The officer will also be responsible to build the capacity of case workers, social service workers, stakeholders and partners to implement the Comprehensive OVC services, establishing and maintaining effective referral networks; and fostering an environment to provide the OVC minimum package of services with acceptable quality standards.

  • The role will also have a strong focus on providing Support training, mentoring and supervision and facilitating linkages to other care and support services prevention clubs and other services for OVCs.

    Responsibilities

  • Support Implementing partners to understand and implement comprehensive OVC and primary prevention services to adolescents in the catchment areas.

  • Ensure guidelines ,SOPs and manuals on OVC programming are distributed and implemented as per the standard

  • Facilitate capacity building trainings to Caseworkers ,social workers ,Economic strengthening teams to ensure it is cascaded to

  • Monitoring, mentoring and providing supportive supervision to partner organization the services provided to OVC and their caretakers.

  • Follow-up and support to Partners in establishing village loan and saving association to reduce economic vulnerability of affected households and individuals

  • Support planning and facilitation of technical workshops and capacity building training in OVC programming, HIV/AIDS, BCC, etc.

  • Ensuring the provision of high quality OVC services by partners through regular follow-up and support.

  • Ensuring deliverables and targets on Comprehensive OVC and primary prevention are on the right track on regular bases

  • Drawing and documenting lessons, best practices and
    writing success stories.

  • Provide technical assistance to partner organizations in key areas of OVC programming, HIV/AIDS prevention, family approach to Palliative care and support

  • Represent ISHDO in meetings ,technical working groups and other forums as needed

  • Provide technical support project technical staff.

  • Support the development of annual and quarterly plans, monthly, quarterly and annual quality reports on timely bases.

  • Prepare and submit regular and timely performance reports to the OVC Service Director adhering to USAID web based reporting requirements

    Job Requirements

    Required Education and Experience

  • MSC/BSC in public health, or other related Social Sciences

  • 3/5 years progressive experience in comprehensive OVC programming and primary prevention in similar settings and a minimum of
  • 2 years’ experience with USAID funded PEPFAR OVC and or HIV/AIDS programs

  • Skills and experience in operating, recording and reporting of OVC Program services using the web-based USAID OVC Program database, such as Commcare

    Personal Skills

  • Ability to coordinate multiple assignments

  • Strong interpersonal skills and positive professional attitude

  • Excellent written and communication skills in English language

  • Local language knowledge (Oromiffa)
    Skills in MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Web Conferencing
    Applications, information management systems.
