Job Summary

  • Under the supervision of Project Coordinator, the Economic Strengthening Officer will be responsible to provide technical assistance (train, coach, mentor and monitor) the beneficiaries of the project.

  • It includes the cascading the contextualization of strategies, guidelines and manuals, and rolling out of these to ensure that community members and economically vulnerable households have increased and ongoing capacity to meet their basic needs.

  • This position will also provide technical assistance to partners in the areas of economic strengthening, enterprise development, microfinance, income and asset building activities of the USAID ISHDO’s Family Focused HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment activity in ISHDO 12 implementation towns. .

  • He/she will also responsible to provide support and assistance to ES animators to identify enterprises or businesses that are appropriate ,conduct a market assessment, and share to ES participants and continue to provide follow up and technical support to get a loan access from local micro finance institutions.

    Job Requirements

    Required Education and Experiences

  • MA/BA in commerce, economics, business management and administration or related field of study

  • 3/5 years of experience managing the design, implementation, reporting and evaluation of evidence-based economic/livelihood activities targeting vulnerable groups preferably 2 years’ experience in PEPFAR OVC or USG supported ES activities in NGO setting

  • Experience and knowledge of best
    practice interventions and approaches designed to improve household economic status and expand livelihoods options and opportunities

  • Excellent knowledge of household finance education / capacity-building approaches;

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with government representatives, for-profit private sector entities, local community organizations, donors and other stakeholders, particularly at the sub-national level;

    Personal Skills

  • Demonstrated skills in knowledge management

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and positive professional attitude

  • Good command of English and local language knowledge of Oromiffa.

  • Ability and great interest to work in team and be good team player.

  • Skills in MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Web Conferencing Applications, information management systems,
