IOM Programme Assistant (Counter Trafficking) Jobs in Uganda


Background and Context

  • The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is committed to ensuring orderly and humane governance of migration, promoting international cooperation on migration issues, and assisting in the search for practical solutions to migration issues.

  • Under the overall supervision of the Programme Coordinator and the direct supervision and guidance of the National Programme Officer (Migration Management), the successful candidate will support the implementation of the Counter trafficking component of the BMM II programme in Uganda and other counter trafficking activities in IOM Uganda and will be responsible for;

    Core Functions / Responsibilities

  • Provide overall support for the implementation of counter trafficking activities in Uganda including the Counter Trafficking component of the BMM II programme in Uganda;

  • Support and work directly with the project implementing partners in the delivery of awareness raising and other relevant activities;

  • Assist in preparation of information relating to migrant assistance for public information activities, including for social media and contribute to the drafting of programme documents including, in collaboration with the communications teams;

  • In collaboration with project partners, assist in provision of direct assistance to victims of trafficking (VoTs) and potential VoTs;

  • Conduct monitoring and evaluation of IOM partners’ activities and provide regular written reports on IOM partners’ activities;

  • Provide logistical support including;
    organizing and coordinating workshops, meetings, seminars, and training in relation to the programme;

  • Update reporting and monitoring tools to keep track of programme activities and ensure that all relevant documentation is produced and made available upon request;

  • Perform any other duties as may be required from time to time in the programme unit.

    Education

  • Completed Bachelor’s degree in Humanities and Social Sciences, Business Administration, International Relations. from an accredited academic institution with three (3) years of relevant professional experience; or
    Completed High School Diploma from an academic accredited institution with five (4) years of relevant professional experience.

    Experience

  • Strong relevant professional experience with counter trafficking projects;

  • Professional experience in the development or implementation of counter trafficking or migration-related projects;

  • Solid understanding of trafficking in persons, labour migration,
    and related national/regional framework and regulations;

  • Demonstrated knowledge of information technology and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.

    Languages

  • Fluency in English and working knowledge of other UN languages is an advantage.
