Background and Context

  • The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is committed to ensuring orderly and humane governance of migration, promoting international cooperation on migration issues, and assisting in the search for practical solutions to migration issues.

  • Under the overall direction of the Programme Coordinator and the direct supervision of the National M&E Officer; the intern (Monitoring and Evaluation) will assist with the support of IOM projects in the provision of systematic data and management of up to date databases for timely and evidence-based reporting and help in tracking quality project monitoring and accountability.

  • He/she will assist in the project systematic data collection through routine monitoring of field level project activities on a timely manner to aid evident reporting within the M&E framework of IOM Uganda and donor standards and guidelines.

    S/he will perform the below tasks:

    Core Functions / Responsibilities

  • Assist M&E officer in the compilation of Monthly, Quarterly, Bi annual and annual reports through provision of timely accurate and updated data.

  • Assist in tracking activity, Output and outcome performance indicators data base/table

  • Assist in proper filing of project documents and reports.

  • Assist in taking part in project level meetings to provide feedback on key project M&E deliverables.

  • Assist in routine monitoring of field activities (data collection, processing and entry)

  • Assist in tracking Project activities implementation and output indicators performance using project activity and output indicator tracking tool.

  • Assist in routine data processing, entry and also assist in design of data collection tools in KOBO/ODK and/or M_water data collection software

  • Assist to keenly track project progress (Activity, Output and Budget tracking) through standardized data collection tools

  • Assist the project team with data management and in documenting corrective actions to enhance the project objectives.

  • Maintain confidentiality and observe data protection and other associated guidelines

  • Assist to capture data into the IOM Project database.

  • Undertake all other tasks as may be assigned.

    Eligibility Requirements

    Applicants to IOM internships must, at the time of application, meet one of the following requirements:

  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or

  • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or

  • Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within one year of graduation.(applicants who graduated since October 2019 will be accepted)

  • All applicants must be between 20 and 36 years of age.

  • Applicants should have a
    working knowledge (both oral and written) of English.

    Education & Experience

  • Completed or final year of enrolment in bachelor’s degree program in the fields of Statistics, Quantitative Economics, BA-Economics, Computer & IT, Social Sciences, Development studies or related fields.

  • Basic understanding in application of project strategic planning approaches, M&E methods and data/information analysis

  • Ability to use own initiative and work under pressure with minimum supervision

  • Excellent computer skills – (competent in MS Office), and basic knowledge in one or more types of data analysis and management software (e.g., Stata, SPSS, ATLASi, Nvivo, M-water etc.….)

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Attention to detail and ability to organize
