Inventory Accountant Job in Mombasa, Kenya

Job Title: Inventory Accountant

Duties and Responsibilities

Developing inventory analysis reports and analyzing variances

Assisting in the improvement in internal controls related to inventory

Verifying accurate standard costs

Monitoring inventory transactions

Reconciling inventory accounts to the general ledger

Preparing monthly journal entries as needed

Perform monthly accounting activities, including the preparation of monthly journal entries, related account reconciliations and reporting

Assist with the preparation of monthly budget vs. actuals variance analyses

Assist with the execution and/or supervision of inventory existence procedures (wall-to-wall physical inventories and/or cycle count procedures) for company managed and third party locations

Monitoring and tracking of offsite inventory balances and sales activity, develop a system solution for tracking this inventory
Planning, Studying, and collecting data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory and labor.

Analyzing data collected and recording results

Analyzing changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods or services provided, to determine effects on cost

Analyzing actual manufacturing costs and preparing periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs

Recording cost information for use in controlling expenditures

Analyzing audits of costs and preparing reports

Making estimates of new and proposed product

costs

Developing inventory analysis reports and analyzing variances

Assisting in the improvement in internal controls related to inventory

Verifying accurate standard costs

Monitoring inventory transactions

Reconciling inventory accounts to the general ledger

Preparing monthly journal entries as needed

Qualifications Required:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance
CPA (K)

A minimum of six years’ experience as an Inventory or Cost Accountant

Manufacturing or Distribution industry experience would be advantageous

An understanding of GAAP in relation to inventory

Proficient in MS Excel and MS Access

Experience with setting up SQL Report Queries would be advantageous

ERP experience required, strong preference for SAGE experience
