IntraHealth Writeshop Facilitation and Editing Consultancy in Kenya



The USAID-funded HRH Kenya Mechanism seeks to strengthen health workforce management to achieve improved health outcomes in 27 High HIV/AIDS disease burden counties.

The consultant will provide a clear, easy, step-by-step “instruction” guide to the participants to be able to generate the desired content, after which S/He will take over the process of editing to complete the write up/publications.


Responsibilities


  • Develop the writing guidelines/outline(s)
    Share, in advance, the guide (s) with participants before the writeshop
  • Initiate the writing process through examples
  • Guide the writing exercise
  • Facilitate the review and critiquing of drafts from the participants and providing feedback during the writing clinic until acceptable drafts are produced
  • Provide editing and proof reading of the final manuscripts
  • Collect photos from project implementing team/communication team to be added into the final documents.
  • Produce a final copy of the documents in designed and print-ready format (soft copy).


    Requirements


  • Higher level academic postgraduate degree in communication, social sciences or development studies.
  • Evidence of previous work in high level writeshop facilitation and editing.
  • At least 10 years
    of experience in documentation and publishing of high level documents.
  • Ability to be flexible and respond to changes to text as part of the review and feedback process.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to communicate and work with diverse people at national, county and project levels.
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Demonstrated experience in design and layout will be an added advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
