INTERSOS Women and Girls Friendly Space (WGFS) Facilitator Jobs in Nigeria; The WGFS Facilitator will support the effective running of the Women and Girls Friendly Space in Anka and Gusau (Zamfara state) by organizing and facilitating psychosocial activities, life skills sessions, awareness-raising initiatives, and GBV prevention and response referrals. The facilitator will ensure the space remains a secure, empowering, and supportive environment for displaced and host community women and girls.
ResponsibilitiesFacilitation of Activities Plan and facilitate daily WGFS activities, including:
Plan and deliver daily activities at the WGFS, including:
Psychosocial support (PSS) group sessions
Life skills and vocational training
GBV prevention awareness sessions
Self-care, recreational, and well-being activities
Adapt sessions to be culturally appropriate, participatory, and age-specific for adolescent girls and women.
Ensure inclusion of vulnerable groups (e.g., persons with disabilities, female-headed households).
GBV and Protection Support
Identify and refer GBV survivors and persons at risk to caseworkers or specialised services in line with referral pathways and confidentiality protocols.
Uphold a survivor-centred approach in all interactions, ensuring safety, dignity, and respect.
Maintain ethical and confidential case handling in compliance with GBV guiding principles.
Safe Space Management
Ensure the WGFS environment is clean, safe, accessible, and welcoming to all women and girls.
Monitor attendance and participation and collect regular feedback to inform activity planning.
Report maintenance, safety, or accessibility issues promptly.
Community Engagement
Mobilise and conduct outreach activities in collaboration with volunteers and community focal points to promote WGFS services.
Build trust with women leaders, youth, traditional leaders, and gatekeepers to ensure community acceptance and support.
Promote community participation in the design and evaluation of activities.
Monitoring and Reporting
Maintain accurate records of WGFS activities, attendance, referrals, and feedback.
Submit regular reports and updates to the PSS Officer or Senior Protection Officer.
Contribute to donor reporting and data analysis when required.
Team Support and Coordination
Participate in team planning, debriefings, supervision sessions, and capacity-building workshops.
Support positive team dynamics and well-being; promote respectful, inclusive communication.
Contribute to case reviews and assist in coordinating workload with the caseworkers.
Reporting, Administrative and Technical Responsibilities
Support the planning, implementation, and reporting of all PSS activities via monthly work plans, schedules, and team management.
Assist in decision-making vis-à-vis material assistance to beneficiaries, documenting the same for both technical and financial reporting.
Supervise PSS activities, ensuring that any progress is duly recorded in a timely fashion via regular case file review by the PSS officer.
Participate in individual supervision sessions weekly with the PSS Officer, bringing immediate attention to any case of special/emergency needs, discussing ongoing issues and strategizing on project and programme development.
Coordinate and oversee psychosocial support activities that are conducted in the WGFS and/or communities.
Compile all reporting on PSS activities as per INTERSOS and donor reporting regulations and transmit these weekly to the PSS officer for further handling. Engage in regular feedback and dialogue with the PSS Officer on quantitative and qualitative reporting.
Data Protection, Confidentiality & Adherence to Protection Principles
Ensure the safe handling and storage of sensitive data, adhering to confidentiality and protection protocols.
Conduct activities in line with
core protection principles: do no harm, non-discrimination, confidentiality, accountability, and the need-to-know basis.
Conduct regular case file checks to ensure compliance with internal SOPS and donor standards.

Other Pss & Wgfs Activities
Flag PSS and security issues and contribute to the identification of appropriate responses.
Identify and assist in the analysis of PSS trends in the overall caseload.
Oversee the planning and implementation of vocational training/life skills acquisition, recreational activities, focus group discussions, and training workshops as instructed by the supervisory/managerial team.
Coordinate and supervise all activities in the WGFS, ensuring that schedules and plans are in line with SOPS and that activities are carried out as per project guidelines.
Strengthen existing community-based PSS and peer support group activities, where such exist, and help to develop them where none currently exist.
Collaborate and coordinate with INTERSOS teams from other departments (WASH, Health & Nutrition, Livelihoods, etc.) to ensure holistic solutions to beneficiaries’ needs.
Participate in external meetings and training on PSS issues, as well as case conferences with partners as needed.
Ensure good relationships and coordination with the main PSS service providers in intervention, with an emphasis on the identification of specific needs.
Identify and report gaps in the availability and quality of PSS service provision in the target areas.
Any other activities specified by the supervisor/managerial team.
Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum of National Diploma (ND) or equivalent in Social Work, Psychology, Gender Studies, Education, or related field.
At least 1–2 years of experience working with INGO/NGO supporting women and/or girls in community settings, especially in GBV, protection, or psychosocial support roles.
Experience working in Zamfara or similar humanitarian contexts, or the northwest states, preferred.
Strong understanding of confidentiality, empathy, and survivor-centred principles.
Fluency in Hausa is required; knowledge of local dialects (e.g., Fulfulde) is an added advantage.
