INTERSOS Protection Coordinator Jobs in Nigeria;In collaboration with the Head of Mission (HoM), the Protection Coordinator leads the design, implementation, and quality assurance of the mission’s protection strategy and programmes.
The role provides technical leadership and guidance to protection teams, ensuring protection interventions are delivered in line with INTERSOS standards, humanitarian principles, and international protection frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
Coordination & Technical Leadership
Lead the development, implementation, and review of the mission’s protection strategy and programmes.
Provide technical guidance and support to protection teams across all programme locations.
Ensure protection interventions are aligned with INTERSOS guidelines, international standards, and donor requirements.
Support programme planning, budgeting, and proposal development processes.
Advise the Head of Mission on protection priorities, emerging risks, and strategic programmatic directions.
Promote quality assurance and consistency across protection activities.
Represent INTERSOS in protection coordination forums, working groups, and meetings with partners, authorities, and donors.
Programme Quality & Technical Support
Ensure effective implementation of protection interventions, including case management, psychosocial support, and community-based protection activities.
Monitor programme quality and provide recommendations for improvement where necessary.
Support development and implementation of protection tools, methodologies, SOPs, and technical guidance.
Conduct field visits to monitor activities and provide mentoring and technical support to field teams.
Ensure programme approaches are evidence-based and adapted to evolving humanitarian contexts.
Monitoring, Reporting & Learning
Monitor programme performance and protection indicators.
Analyze programme data and trends to inform strategic decision-making.
Ensure quality reporting to management, donors, and other stakeholders.
Document lessons learned, best practices, and programme achievements.
Contribute to assessments, evaluations, and protection analyses.
Capacity Building & Team Management
Supervise and strengthen the capacity of protection staff.
Provide coaching, mentoring, and technical training to programme teams.
Support recruitment, induction, performance management, and staff development processes.
Promote effective teamwork, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.
Required Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Psychology, Social Work, Human Rights, International Humanitarian Law, or a related field.
Master’s Degree in Human Rights, International Humanitarian Law, or a related discipline is desirable.
Professional Experience
Minimum eight (8) years of experience with NGOs in developing countries.
At least five (5) years of experience in senior protection technical roles.
Proven experience implementing protection interventions including Case Management, Psychosocial Support (PSS), and Community-Based Protection.
Professional Requirements
Strong theoretical, technical, and practical understanding of protection programming.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and internet-based tools.
Experience with monitoring systems, reporting, data collection, and analysis.
Languages
Excellent written and spoken English is required.

General Conditions & Benefits
Salary Scale: Grade 12 (€3,690 - €4,245 gross per month).
Accommodation provided in a shared guesthouse.
Rest & Recuperation (R&R): 7 days every 8 weeks plus €1,000 allowance, subject to eligibility.
Annual Leave: 2.5 days per month.
Medical, injury, death, and civil liability insurance coverage.
Psychosocial support available upon request.
International flights provided in accordance with INTERSOS policies.
