International Vaccine Institute Research Scientist I Jobs in Rwanda; The Research Scientist I will coordinate, initiate, and complete clinical research projects within IVI’s Clinical Development Department. The role ensures compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines and relevant regulations, while safeguarding human subjects and maintaining the highest quality standards. The position contributes to vaccination campaigns from design to implementation and reporting, while also supporting new funding opportunities aligned with IVI’s mission.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Conduct and Complete Clinical Projects & Studies

  • Design, implement, and supervise clinical trials, including protocol development and IRB submissions.

  • Oversee interventions on designated diseases and support proposal writing, tools, and protocols.

    Develop and Maintain External Networks

  • Link global and regional partnerships to maintain technical consistency.

  • Represent IVI in professional circles through meetings, conferences, and presentations.

  • Identify potential partners/countries for clinical research implementation.

  • Collaborate with Program Management, Clinical Operations, and Project Administration on contracts and budgets.

    Support Development of IVI Clinical Infrastructure

  • Contribute to archiving of project documents in compliance with regulatory authorities.

  • Provide vision and strategic leadership in collaboration with local partners.

    Documentation and Dissemination

  • Publish scientific papers and present at conferences.

  • Ensure timely publication and sharing of scientific evidence.

    Develop New Research Opportunities

  • Assist in drafting new research proposals and applying for funding.

    Qualifications

    Education Requirements

  • Medical Doctorate or equivalent.

    Related Field Work Experience

  • 8+ years’ experience in clinical research, including 3 years in vaccine clinical trials.

    Technical and Professional Skills / Knowledge

  • Strong GCP knowledge and experience.

  • Knowledge of statistics, epidemiology, and study design.

  • Experience in clinical trial design and implementation, preferably with vaccines in developing country settings.

  • At least 5 manuscripts published in peer‑reviewed international journals.
