International Trade Centre International Trade Centrer Jobs in Kenya;The International Trade Centre (ITC) is seeking a Programme Officer to support strategic planning, programme development, project portfolio coordination, partnerships, and representation in Eastern Africa. Based in Nairobi, the role contributes to ITC’s mandate of enabling trade‑led economic development and supporting the operationalization of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Programme Development
Support development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes/projects.
Monitor progress, review documents, identify issues, and propose corrective actions.
Facilitate workshops and consulting assignments with clients.
Research and present information on AU, EAC, and country developments relevant to ITC.
Assist in policy development, evaluations, and preparation of country strategic notes/workplans.
Project Portfolio Coordination
Undertake surveys, needs assessments, and project design.
Coordinate ITC’s project portfolio across EAC member states and Ethiopia.
Track compliance with targets, frameworks, donor requirements, and UNCT agreements.
Interface with stakeholders to strengthen synergies with development partners.
Support uptake of ITC’s Global Public Goods and feedback to HQ.
Contribute to evaluations, reporting, and preparation of written outputs.
Partnerships & Resource Mobilization
Identify private‑sector needs relevant to SME competitiveness.
Track funding trends and opportunities in Eastern Africa.
Support development of partnership strategies, donor correspondence, and funding proposals.
Regional Office Technical Management
Support annual workplan development and day‑to‑day operations of Nairobi office.
Ensure compliance with ITC/UN regulations in administration, procurement, and finance.
Coordinate with UNON and safeguard personnel, programmes, and assets.
Support onboarding and supervision of interns/consultants.
Assist ITC Country Managers with UNCT engagement and reporting to Resident Coordinator Offices.
Representation & Advocacy
Support Director’s engagement with governments, AU, EAC, and regional bodies.
Prepare briefing notes, talking points, and background papers.
Coordinate ITC’s participation in intergovernmental meetings and
regional events.
Contribute to communication strategies and outreach activities.
Participate in field missions and draft mission summaries.
Collect and analyze data, prepare visualizations, and support data‑driven decision‑making.

Education
Advanced degree in business administration, project management, economics, international relations, political science, or related field.
First‑level degree with two additional years of experience may be accepted.
Job‑Specific Qualification
Training in data analytics, business analytics, or data science desirable.
Work Experience
Minimum 5 years’ experience (7 years with first‑level degree) in programme/project oversight, external relations, or business administration.
Experience in data analytics desirable.
Experience supporting senior representational functions and multi‑stakeholder programmes desirable.
Experience in Eastern Africa desirable.
Experience in resource mobilization, donor reporting, and UNCT processes desirable.
Experience with AU, EAC, or other regional bodies desirable.
Experience in UN or international organizations desirable.
Languages
English required.
French desirable.
