Scope of Responsibilities

The Procurement Officer is responsible for ensuring that the staff of the International School of Uganda are provided with the supplies, equipment and other resources necessary to carry out their roles.

This includes providing support to the Procurement Coordinator and the Administrative Officer – Stores.

Reports to:

  • Procurement Coordinator

    Performance Responsibilities

    To assist in the provision of necessary supplies, equipment and resources in a timely and efficient manner. Including but not limited to:

  • Gathering feedback on the effectiveness of the procurement service
  • Verification of purchased items
  • Assist in the creation and manage supplier database

    Assist in the procurement of supplies, equipment and resources, ensuring that purchasing is timely, to
    an appropriate quality and in all ways ethical. Including but limited to:

  • Ensuring that the best price, quality and conditions for ISU are negotiated, as far as possible in all procurements; ensuring that regular supplier check, and market survey is carried out
  • In the event of any problems, taking proactive action to ensure that resources will be available on time and giving early warning to the staff concerned
  • Getting quotes for items

    To oversee the management of stores around the campus, ensuring that they are managed efficiently.

  • Controlling the various stores (furniture store, classroom supplies) in a friendly and supportive manner to facilitate good management of contents
  • Ensuring that the contents of all stores are in good condition and that any damaged or out of date items are repaired or replaced as appropriate
  • Assist in the
    annual audit / inventory and making regular spot checks of stock; reporting any concerns to the Procurement Coordinator
  • Ensuring that supplies are stored, handled and moved in a safe manner (that heavy items are carried safely and that dangerous items (solvent, poisons, acids) are stored carefully and never left lying about)
  • Managing the School’s assets
  • Participating in regular verification checks on school assets
  • Carrying out other duties as requested by the Head of School

    Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement.
  • Diploma in Logistics and Supply Chain Management

    Job related experience and knowledge:
  • Previous experience in Procurement and Logistics with experience in a multi-cultural
    organization
