International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals Legal Affairs Intern Jobs in Tanzania ; To support the Office of the President of the Mechanism in fulfilling its mandated functions, including legal research, drafting, reporting, and policy support. Interns will gain exposure to international criminal law, judicial processes, and UN reporting mechanisms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive legal research.

  • Assist in drafting and proofreading decisions, orders, and other judicial documents.

  • Support preparation of reports to the UN Security Council and General Assembly.

  • Analyse relevant laws, rules, and policies.

  • Assist in drafting speeches and official correspondence.

  • Provide support on press and policy matters.

  • Assist with management, retention, and disposition of records.

  • Compile and collect materials and perform routine tasks as required.

    Qualifications & Special Skills

  • Enrolled in, or completed, the final academic year of a law degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent).

  • Law students (including International Law) enrolled in, or completed, a graduate programme (Master’s or higher).

  • No professional work experience required, but field of study must be closely related to the internship.

    Languages

  • Fluency in English required.

  • Working knowledge of French desirable.

  • Knowledge of Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian or Kinyarwanda an advantage.
