International Rescue Committee Windmill Repair and Three Water Troughs Construction in Solar Valley Tank and Renovation of Spillway and Ghabion Box in Motany Valley Tank Jobs in Uganda

The consultant is expected to repair the Wind mill system, construct two small water troughs for the smaller ruminants, correct the piping system as prescribed by the former technician and train the water user committees (WUC) on the simple operation and maintenance of the water facilities in Solar valley tank.

Thereafter the consultant will test the effectiveness of the wind mill system to confirm the functionality and advise the water user committee on the sustainability plan.

The consultant is also required to extend his or her expertise to Motany valley tank and repair the gabion box and spillway.

The work on the gabion box includes blockages of the water channel created on the silt trough.

This also involves enlarging the Spillway to create one way water-entry into the dam. This spillway will act as the water drinking point for all animals and must be concertized.

Period of Performance

  • Define the time period over which the project will occur.
  • The time frame for the project can be pre-determined or based on a completion date to coincide with some external requirement
  • The consultant is expected to start this work by 15th of January 2019 and complete by the 15th Feb, 2019.
  • The work at Solar valley tank will take one week including construction of water troughs while in Motany will two weeks and one more week for reporting.

    Place of Performance
  • Describe where the work will be performed by the vendor.
  • In some cases the vendor may perform all or some of its work on site at the customer’s location.
  • This is usually dependent on the type of industry or work being performed.
  • It is important to define this in case the customer requires the vendor to work at the customer’s site
  • The repair of Solar Wind mill system, construction of 2 small water troughs and training of water user committee will be done in Solar valley tank, Amudat Town council while the renovation of gabion box and spillway enlargement and concreting will be done in Motany valley tank, Amudat district, Karamoja Region. Reporting can be done from elsewhere as decided by the consultant.

    Work Requirements
  • Provide description of the actual tasks which the project will require.
  • This should include what tasks need to be completed in order for successful completion of this project/contract.
  • Repair of Solar Wind mill system and correcting piping system.
  • Construction of water troughs (two small troughs for small ruminants at
    Solar Valley Tank).
  • Training of water user committees on the simple operation and maintenance of water infrastructure/installations.
  • Repair of gabion box and water spillway in Motany valley tank.
  • Advise water user committees and the district leaders on the valley tanks management plan and sustainability
  • Submit reports of the services conducted both in Solar and Motany valley tanks.

    Schedule/Milestones
  • Define the schedule of deliverable and milestones for this project.
  • Since the scope of services required often accompanies the RFQ for the project, it is imperative that all milestones, tasks, and schedule information are as accurate as possible since vendors will need to consider these items in their proposals.

    Acceptance Criteria
  • This section of the scope of services required defines how the customer will accept the deliverable resulting from this scope.
  • The acceptance of deliverable must be clearly defined and understood by all parties.
  • This section should include a description of how both parties will know when work is acceptable, how it will be accepted, and who is authorized to accept the work.
  • The following criteria will be followed by both parties to know when work is accepted, how it will be accepted and who is authorized to accept the work.
  • The meeting between the vendor and the IRC to discuss the term of reference(TOR)
  • The vender’s consent to sign contract and commit to do the work
  • IRC acceptance on the venders’ request for support if need be.

    Other Requirements
  • Any special requirements, such as security requirements (personnel with security clearance and what level, badges, etc.) should be described in this section.
  • There should also be a description of any restrictions/requirements The vendor is expected to cater for his/her own accommodation and that of his/her team members, up-keep and provide transport to and from Amudat district, airtime and all personal demands.
  • The IRC on its part will provide facilitation for services and activities included in the TOR.
  • The vendor is expected to be on site physically rather than doing remote supervision
