International Rescue Committee Research Associate Jobs in Kenya; This Junior Researcher position sits within the Airbel Impact Lab and supports the Education Unit across multiple research projects. The role focuses on data management and analysis — cleaning and processing quantitative and qualitative datasets — and synthesizing findings into clear, accessible reports.

Reports to the Senior Researcher for Education in Airbel Impact Lab and works closely with the Education Technical Unit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative research activities, including data cleaning, organizing, managing, and analysis.

  • Support implementation research studies to assess intervention delivery, quality, fidelity, and cost‑effectiveness.

  • Support randomized control trials to measure impact on children’s learning and wellbeing.

  • Contribute to advancement of research priorities under senior researcher supervision.

  • Draft reports, briefs, and blog posts for practitioner and policy audiences.

  • Collaborate with Education, Research, and R&D teams, and other IRC departments.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

  • MA in Education, Economics, Statistics, or related field.

  • Excellent knowledge of quantitative methods, inferential statistics, and qualitative approaches.

  • Experience in data cleaning, management, and analysis; proficiency in Stata, R, or Python.

  • Familiarity
    with qualitative methods (thematic/content analysis) desirable.

  • Up to 3 years’ experience in research, data analysis, or related field (internship/academic/volunteer experience considered).

  • Strong written communication skills; ability to present findings clearly for non‑specialist audiences.

  • Strong organizational skills; ability to manage competing priorities in fast‑paced environments.

  • Fluent in English; proficiency in French or Arabic preferred.
