International Rescue Committee Regional Policy and Advocacy Advisor - PlayMatters Jobs in Uganda; The Policy and Advocacy Advisor will design and implement a policy and advocacy strategy across PlayMatters’ country programs, connecting advocacy work to technical aspects of project implementation and IRC’s global education strategy. The role involves close collaboration with research, MEAL, and implementation teams, and regular communication with ministries, partners, and coordination groups.
ResponsibilitiesDesign & Implement Advocacy Strategy Support IRC’s global education advocacy strategy by promoting PlayMatters.
Liaise with advocacy focal points across IRC units and partners.
Conduct stakeholder analyses and power mapping.
Develop advocacy tactics for influencing donors, ministries, and coordination groups.
Collaborate with Communications to produce compelling materials.
Initiate presentations and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
Track and update IRC participation in advocacy-related events.
Support translation of interventions into multimedia solutions for dissemination.
Facilitate adaptation and uptake of PlayMatters content within government systems.
Develop and track Learning through Play Advocacy workplan.
Internal Capacity Building & Communications
Lead advocacy capacity-building workshops for IRC and partner staff.
Assist in developing PlayMatters talking points and presentations.
External Representation & Relationship Management
Liaise with advocacy focal points at partner organizations, peer NGOs, and UN agencies.
Represent PlayMatters in interagency groups.

Strong facilitation skills for diverse stakeholders.

Excellent writing and editing skills for memos, reports, and proposals.
Critical thinking and synthesis of broad information.
Solid organizational skills with attention to detail.
Flexible, team-oriented, and able to support projects at short notice.
Knowledge of early childhood development, education, social-emotional well-being, psychosocial support, humanitarian programming, and international policies.
