International Rescue Committee Locum Nutritionist Jobs in Kenya


International Rescue Committee Locum Nutritionist Jobs in Kenya;Reporting to the Senior Nutrition Officer, the Locum Nutritionist will implement nutrition screening, treatment of acute malnutrition, micronutrient supplementation and promotion of appropriate MIYCN practices at health facilities. Responsibilities include detection and integrated management of acute malnutrition, MIYCN, MNDC and submission of weekly and monthly reports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct implementation of IMAM, managing under‑fives/PBWGs in OTP/TSFP programs per WHO 2023 IMAM Protocol.

  • Participate in data collection, entry and reporting of IMAM data.

  • Ensure timely identification and treatment of acutely malnourished children and PLWs through surveillance and assessment systems.

  • Participate in daily ward rounds in SC ward, ensuring treatment and procedures are documented per national IMAM guidelines.

  • Manage children under six months and mothers per MAMI protocol/IMAM guidelines.

  • Support capacity building and OJT for CHWs, OPD staff and auxiliary nurses.

  • Implement MIYCN at facility and integrate with CMAM programs via counselling and health education.

  • Monitor utilization of nutrition supplies and reconcile daily.

  • Compile and submit weekly nutrition reports and monthly MOH summary reports for KHIS/LMIS.

  • Participate in facility‑based data review meetings and share performance indicators.

  • Liaise with pharmacist/facility in‑charge to order nutrition commodities.

  • Provide nutrition assessment, counselling and support in NCD clinics, MCH/OPD, medical wards and special clinics.

  • Perform other
    duties as assigned by supervisor.

    Required Qualifications

  • Diploma in Foods, Nutrition and Dietetics from recognized institution.

  • Registration with KNDI.

    Experience / Competence

  • Minimum 3 years’ INGO experience in emergency community nutrition.

  • Experience in MIYCN with strong approaches.

  • Experience in Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition.

  • Experience in HiNi implementation and tracking.

  • Experience in IMAM Surge approaches.

  • Experience in nutrition survey and assessment.

  • Strong analytical, communication and negotiation skills.

  • Strategic thinking ability.

  • Experience in report writing and excellent computer skills including HIS.

  • Ability to work in hardship areas; camp experience an advantage.

  • Flexible and positive personality.

  • Strong planning and implementation capacity.

  • Confident negotiator, communicator and networker.
