International Rescue Committee Agriculture Team Leader Jobs in Uganda


Responsibilities

  • With her/his team develop and submit monthly work plans to Livelihoods Manager for review every 5th day of the month
  • Ensure that the monthly work plans are cognizant of the project work plan, indicator tracking sheet and spending plan
  • Submit monthly progress reports against work plan to the ERD Manager every 5th day of the month
  • Conduct monthly project review and planning meetings with Agriculture Officers; during the meeting, resolve observed obstacles, develop wok plan & cash need for subsequent month, and compile progress report for the month under review.
  • Conduct weekly meetings with each Agriculture Officer to review progress against set targets, provide performance feedback and provide technical guidance on how the staff can overcome the obstacles observed in current week
  • Conduct probation and annual performance evaluations of field officers within five days of due date
  • Resolve disciplinary issues that arise with ERD staff and inform ERD Manager same day of incident
  • Ensure advance leave scheduling for staff and inform ERD Manager ahead of time
  • Ensure that all the Agriculture Officers complete and submit their timesheets by the 5th day of the subsequent month
  • Foster the spirit of cohesion, teamwork, professionalism and mutual respect within the Agriculture team
  • Ensure coordination with local stakeholders in both private and public sector as well as with other organizations.
  • Collaborate effectively with other livelihoods staff and project staff

    Qualifications

  • University degree in agriculture; specialized training in value chain development, farming as a business and collective marketing is an added advantage.
  • 2-3 years of experience in implementing livelihoods and agriculture projects with a good aptitude of logical framework approach; experience with rural growth strategies including, value chain development, local economic development, market-driven agricultural and private sector development initiatives.
  • Strong computer skills and analytical report writing Security awareness
  • Attention to details.
  • Ability to plan ahead and yet accommodate unexpected tasks.
  • Excellent networking and liaison skills.
  • Flexible and able to adapt to the logistics constraints.

    International Rescue Committee Economic Recovery and Development ERD) Manager Jobs in Uganda

    Responsibilities

  • Responsible for implementation of project activities related to livelihoods and economic development across project districts within an allocated sub-region.
  • Directly manage implementation of project activities in allocated sub-region and supervise the sub-regional livelihoods project team.
  • Identify and develop partnerships with relevant private sector, local youth-focused initiatives and other community-led initiatives in allocated sub-region to support the roll out and delivery of economic development component of the project.
  • Develop, manage and keep track of relevant program activity work plans and training implementation schedules to ensure timely delivery of services by project staff and community partners, and achievement of objectives.
  • Work with sub-regional M&E staff to monitor project progress and achievement of sub-results, assuring that feedback and learning are accurately captured and integrated into the project management cycle.
  • Maintain productive working relationships with project partners, beneficiaries and key counterparts.
  • Work closely with Senior ERD Manager, IRC Technical Advisors and IRC Economic Recovery and Development Coordinator, remain up to date on best practices and developments in targeted economic development, entrepreneurship, business skills and financial services in order to ensure program quality and impact

    Qualifications

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in agriculture, economics, food security, international development or related discipline..
    Work Experience:
  • 3 years of progressively responsible project management experience in economic development programming and financial/business skill building, preferably with a focus on youth and gender equality
  • 1-2 years of technical experience in business/enterprise development and financial services, markets facilitation and private sector development is essential. Field experience in pastoral livelihoods is an advantage.
    Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:
  • Experience in
    youth outreach, relationship building, and partnerships in advancing organizational mission and recognizing opportunities for collaboration.
  • Experience managing a large team of field staff.
  • Experience in developing new relationships with private sector partners.
  • Strong leadership, analytical and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to quickly assess priorities and effectively manage a variety of activities at a time while paying appropriate attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact professionally with donor, project stakeholders, in-country collaborators and staff at all levels of the organization.

  • Develop, manage and keep track of relevant program activity workplans and training implementation schedules to ensure timely delivery of services by project staff and community partners, and achievement of objectives.
  • Work with the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Advisor and sub-regional M&E staff to monitor project progress and achievement of sub-results, assuring that feedback and learning are accurately captured and integrated into the project management cycle.
  • Ensure cross-cutting elements are integrated into the technical approach and captured in the M&E plan.
  • Maintain productive working relationships with project partners, beneficiaries and key counterparts.
  • Work closely with IRC Technical Advisors and IRC Economic Recovery and Development Coordinator, remain up to date on best practices and developments in targeted economic development, entrepreneurship, business skills and financial services in order to ensure program quality and impact.

    Qualifications
