Job Description

Summary:

Under the direct technical supervision of EHO, EHA officer is responsible and focal person for over all implementation of Water Supply projects in Support of planning, design, implementing and monitoring activities of ERR program in the assigned project woreda.

Responsibilities:

Major/key responsibilities.

  • Take part in conducting rapid and detail assessment at hotspots using IRC’s rapid and detail Assessment Mechanism.
  • In collaboration with other team members, he/she undertakes detail Environmental Health need assessments, implement different WASH related programs including construction of water supply systems and sanitation facilities.
  • Support the Environmental Health Officer and ERR manager in physical & financial implementation plan for the proposed project.
  • Collect data and information, Prepare and maintain records, documents and control plans for the monitoring of projects/ program implementation.
  • Support the supply chain team in procuring different WASH supplies.
  • Closely monitor the progress and implementation of contractual works as per the agreement.
  • Lead construction activities and assure quality as per the project design.
  • Work in collaboration with IRC Hygiene
  • Promotion staffs in promoting safe hygiene practices in the project area which includes Health Promotion activities and also will take part in distributing NFI items as necessary.
  • Produces activity progress reports as per the preset reporting schedule and submit to EH / ERR Manager.
  • Work with community, other IRC staffs and local partners to promote safe hygiene and sanitation practices.
  • Participate in post intervention assessment of ERR projects.
  • Give support in facilitating the handing over of finalized project activities on time to the concerned authorities.
  • Keep records of all necessary documents including designs, BoQs, contractual documents, handing over documents, distribution lists etc?
  • Take part in establish/activate and train Water User Associations/water committees in health facilities and rural communities on basic care and maintenance of water schemes.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly implementation works plans and procurement plans.
  • Prepare monthly
    reports and submit to the supervisor on the work progress of water supply activities;
  • Participate in locally organized emergency task force meetings and forums whenever required and submit timely report of the meeting.
  • Takes additional works as assigned by his/her supervisors.

    Job Requirements

  • First degree/diploma in water supply engineering, civil engineering, sanitary engineering, hydraulic engineering or related engineering fields.

  • One year for Degree and Three year of relevant experience for diploma holders in water supply, hydraulic, civil, sanitation or related engineering fields.

  • At least 1 years of experience for first degree holders in water supply, sanitary, hydraulic or related engineering fields.

  • NGO experience is preferable on the area of WASH in emergency.

  • Good command of both spoken and written English and local language of the area is a plus.

    Other Requirements

  • Basic computer skills (office), Microsoft office, Excel, word.

  • Experience of Engineering Software (Watercad, Epanet and Auto CAD etc)

  • Experience of data analysis software (Arc GIS and SPSS) is an asset.
