International Rescue Committee Coordinator, Learning & Development Jobs in Kenya

INEE: The Inter-agency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE), is a global network of over 18,000 individual members, affiliated with more than 4,000 organizations from 190 countries with representatives from UN agencies, International and National NGOs, donors, governments, universities, schools and affected populations working together to ensure all persons the right to a quality education in emergencies (EiE) and post-crisis recovery.

As INEE is a network and hosted by its membership, the IRC hosts the INEE Secretariat.

The 2018-2023 Strategic Framework presents INEE’s vision for how to reach its overarching goal: To ensure the right to a quality, safe, and relevant education for all who live in emergency and crisis contexts through prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery.

The Strategic Framework outlines four strategic priorities that will enable the network to achieve its goal:

  • Provide thought leadership and global advocacy

  • Strengthen capacities to deliver quality, safe, relevant, and inclusive education for all

  • Provide, curate, and organize knowledge to inform policy and practice

  • Strengthen and diversify the INEE membership

    This position will serve each of INEE’s priorities, primarily focusing on leading INEE Strategy Priority 2.

    This position ensures that mutual learning, capacity sharing, and capacity development strategies and initiatives are built in multiple modalities and languages and for multiple levels, with a particular focus on reaching INEE members living and working in EIE settings and specifically in remote locations.

    The approach should elevate members' voices, especially teachers, and always be adaptable to the membership's needs in line with INEE’s mission.

    Major Responsibilities

  • Building and regularly updating mutual learning, capacity sharing and capacity development strategy and system for the network.
    That is functional to Thematic- Members Engagement- Evidence- Standards &Practice Teams and INEE Network Spaces.

  • Crafting and facilitating regular quality professional development, mutual learning, capacity sharing and capacity development opportunities for INEE members, partners and Education practitioners

  • Coordinate with INEE members to strengthen and harmonize mutual learning, capacity sharing and capacity development practices in the sector, in line with the EIE Competency Framework

  • Harmonizing and updating quality EIE tools and resources

  • Coordinate INEE’s work on teacher support,and the Teachers in Crisis Contexts group (TiCC).

  • Coordinate the INEE TiCC Working Group and Professional Development Reference Group

  • Building links and support with key partners (e.g., UNHCR, UNESCO, UNICEF, Youth groups, Universities, etc.) and representing INEE upon request

  • Coordinate consultancies, including specialist trainers that provide technical support when required.

  • Support and engage in the overall tasks of the INEE secretariat, working closely with Thematic- Members Engagement- Evidence Teams and INEE Network Spaces,
    building a spirit of teamwork.

  • Prioritized throughout all the activities' gender, anti-racism, decolonization, and equity participation approaches

    Job Requirements

    Work Experience

  • Minimum 7 years of directly relevant professional experience

  • Detailed experience in strategy development, strategic leadership, administration and project management

  • Experience in education in emergencies, teacher professional development, capacity building and training implementation

  • Experience building positive relationships and partnerships with key sector actors

    Demonstrated Skills and Competencies

  • Confirmed skills in strategy development, strategic leadership, administration and project management

  • Strong technical knowledge related to education in emergencies, teacher professional development, and training implementation

  • Expertise in capacity development, curriculum design and facilitation

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

  • In-depth understanding of INEE’s mission, vision, and functions

    Language Skills: Knowledge of a second language is an asset

    Preferred Experience & Skills

  • Understanding and experience in the areas of child protection, social-emotional learning, psychosocial support, monitoring & evaluation, and research

  • Experience leading web content, online learning platforms and back-end content management system

    Working Environment

  • This role requires working remotely full or part-time, and part-time remote employees may be required to share a workspace.

  • Some international travel as needed up to 30%

    All IRC US offices require full vaccination to attend any in-office functions (e.g., meetings, trainings).
