Organizational Context and Scope

  • Under the direct supervision of the National Database Management Officer and under the overall supervision of the DTM Programme Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for supporting the establishment and maintenance of a database to store datasets, reports and other products produced by the DTM unit. The incumbent will verify the quality of data migrated to this platform, coherence of datasets and conforming to IOM data protection standards

    Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Provide general assistance in creating database structures, end user interfaces and in preparation of business requirement documentation and training materials.

  • Assist in monitoring integrated processes/database use, especially by field staff, and contact users to identify difficulties related to the database, server, or connectivity.

  • Support in designing and developing DTM forms, using KOBO Toolbox.

  • Participate in the revision of DTM data collection, data cleaning and data analysis tools

  • Assist in the cleaning and analysis of data by ensuring data consistency and provide statistical information and mapping.

  • Support in developing and implementing proper backup, restore, data validation, and security procedures to ensure data integrity and availability

  • Support in the verification of the information and accuracy of the data in the system and ensure that reported figures are the same as the once stored in the system.

  • Perform other duties as they might be assigned.

    Job Requirements

    Education

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field from an accredited academic institution

    Experience

  • 4 years relevant professional work experience

  • Experience in designing mobile data collection forms using Kobo Toolbox (or ODK) and processing collected data using different platforms

  • Experience in software development (ASP.NET, C#), SQL database development, experience in developing web-based database applications using php and JavaScript

  • Experience in data/information management and triangulation of information

    Skill

  • In depth knowledge of the broad range of migration related subject areas dealt with by the Organization; and,

  • Knowledge of UN and bilateral donor programming.

  • Knowledge of financial rules and regulations.

  • Knowledge of International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS)

    Languages

  • Fluency in English and Amharic (oral and written) is required.
