International Organization for Migration Senior Technical Consultant Jobs in Kenya; The Senior Technical Consultant will support the AMDN Secretariat in operational planning, technical advisory, stakeholder coordination, and resource mobilisation.
The role translates strategic frameworks into practical workplans, strengthens governance structures, and ensures alignment with AU frameworks and international statistical standards.
Core Areas of Work
Operational Planning & Strategic Translation
Translate AMDN ToRs, governance decisions, and strategic frameworks into a sequenced 6–12‑month operational plan.
Advise on priority‑setting, phasing of activities, and institutional readiness.
Analytical & Technical Advisory Support
Provide high‑level input on African migration and displacement data landscape.
Map data systems, institutional arrangements, and gaps.
Contribute to early AMDN analytical, methodological, and capacity‑building products.
Secretariat & Steering Committee Establishment
Support operational establishment of Secretariat and Steering Committee.
Clarify functions, workflows, and coordination arrangements.
Develop operational tools (workplan templates, reporting formats, coordination mechanisms).
Meetings & Technical Events
Plan and organise AMDN meetings (technical working groups, steering/advisory bodies, partner consultations).
Prepare background documents and follow‑up on action points.
Coordinate AMDN inputs into continental events (e.g., African School on Migration Statistics).
Donor Engagement & Resource Mobilisation
Prepare donor briefing notes, presentations, and concept notes.
Support engagements with donors, foundations, and partners.
Develop strategic partnership opportunities to strengthen funding prospects.
Stakeholder Coordination & Partnership Building
Facilitate coordination among AU structures, NSOs, RECs, and technical partners.
Support nomination and onboarding of AMDN focal points.
Develop communication materials and visibility approaches.
Deliverables & Payment Structure
Inception Note & Start‑Up
Workplan (20%).
African Migration Data Landscape & Priorities Note (30%).
Partnership & Resource Mobilisation Package (25%).
Technical Inputs & Final Summary Report (25%).
Qualifications & Experience
Advanced degree (Master’s or higher) in Statistics, Demography, Economics, Migration Studies, Public Policy, or related field.
Minimum 7 years’ experience in migration/demographic statistics, data governance, or policy analysis in Africa.
Experience with African continental/regional bodies (AUC/STATAFRIC, RECs, AfDB).
Proven resource mobilisation experience.
Experience coordinating multi‑country/regional projects with NSOs and governments.
Strong analytical and drafting skills with lead authorship of reports/policy briefs.
Familiarity with AU/UN datasets and frameworks (e.g., SHaSA 2, AU Guidelines, GCM Objective 1).
Excellent English; French desirable; other AU languages an asset.
Travel Requirement
At least one mission to Addis Ababa or another African location for Steering Committee/AMDN meetings.
