Job Requirements

Under the direct supervision of the Project Development and Policy Officer and Communications unit in IOM Ethiopia, the incumbent/s will be responsible for assisting with photographic documentation of IOM Ethiopia’s activities on an on-call, ad-hoc basis over a period of 1 year (with possibility of extension); producing high-resolution, professional photographs (and high definition short smart phone video where appropriate).

This position will involve accompanying filed officers to document the work of IOM around various locations in the country.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Accompany IOM Field Officers in Ethiopia to assist IOM with the expansion of its photography portfolio. The photo sessions will take place in various locations around Ethiopia, including Addis Ababa.
  • Photograph IOM Ethiopia activities in order to present a set of finalized and edited photographs of said subjects to IOM Ethiopia.
  • Edit, format and archive the photography outcome on DVD/CD or through web-based shared folder (Dropbox), for handover to IOM Ethiopia.
  • Images shall be in digital format (RAW, original JPEGs or any other mutually agreed formats with IOM; and with a minimum resolution of 7360 x 4912 pixels and for a print size of 3240 x 2160 pixels, compatible for printing at least on A4 size, for use on websites and presentations.
  • IOM will review all of the images/photographs taken by the incumbent/s pursuant to this contract. Following delivery to IOM of the images/photographs in the format and manner described above, all traces of such images/photographs must be completely destroyed by the incumbent who must provide IOM with a certificate of such destruction.

    Minimum required qualifications, experience and competencies:

  • University degree in photography/media/communications an
    advantage

  • 2+ years professional photography experience
  • 2+ experience with photo editing software
  • Knowledge of videography is a plus
  • Knowledge of the region is an advantage

    Languages:

  • Knowledge of English language (Written & Spoken) is required;
  • Knowledge of the French language is an advantage
