Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and as the leading


UN agency in the field of migration, works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners.


IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.


Responsibilities:


  • Serve as a first-line Supervisor for a Mobile/Static Health Unit and be available for deployment to field locations in South Sudan as part of IOM’s Rapid Health Response operations with in short notice.
  • Improve the layout and patient flow of the outreach/static clinics, monitor the set-up of the pharmacy and drug storage space, and make recommendations for enhancements.
  • Provide guidance and on the job training for the health team on rapid response missions and static/outreach clinics.
  • Assist the RRT Coordinator/Migration Health Officer in organizing and implementing health and nutrition assessments and vaccination campaigns, and in coordinating medical evacuation as needed.
  • Work with County Health Department/State Ministry of Health and provide information for dissemination to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and host community in each mobile outreach/RRT mission deployed.
  • Coordinate the processing and maintenance of medical/confidential documents and records of all consultations done by the mobile outreach/RRT mission and maintain regular statistics.
  • Participate in mass vaccination campaigns, responses to disease outbreaks and in addressing primary health care needs of crises affected population.
  • Compile, review and share data with the Health RRT team.
  • Attend relevant coordination meetings and maintain coordination and cooperation with local health authorities and partners including Ministry of Health (MoH), World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and other partners on-site where needed.
  • Ensure photo-documentation of all health-related activities.
  • Maintain good working relationships With the IDPs communities and be a team player with other health partners and with IOM teams working on-site.
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned.


    Required Qualifications and Experience:


    Education

  • University degree in Medicine, Clinical Health, Public Health, Nursing from an accredited academic institution with at least two years of professional experience; or
  • University degree in Medicine from an accredited academic institution plus Master’s Degree in Community or Public Health, Medical Specialization in Infectious Diseases or other related fields from an accredited academic institution.


    Experience

  • Experience in implementing health services for migrants, refugee and displaced persons and other vulnerable groups; including early recovery or post crisis emergency health programming;
  • Experience in coordinating and liaising with government authorities, knowledge and structures and functions of primary health care system, of national, UN and international health agencies and donors;
  • Knowledge of the region is an advantage.

    Languages

  • Fluency in English is required. Working knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.

    Internationally recruited professional staff are required to be mobile.
