International Organization for Migration Conflict Resolution Officer Jobs in Kenya
Responsibilities
Oversee case management and assist colleagues with intake and follow‑up of cases, including compilation of statistics and preparation of bi‑monthly and annual reports.
Research and identify systemic issues, advise leadership on preventive actions and contribute to organizational feedback.
Prepare reports on trends and activities, identifying patterns or problem areas in policies and practices.
Research topics related to the Ombudsperson function and prepare draft policies, administrative procedures and operational documents.
Conduct outreach activities including preparing texts, brochures, presentations, handbooks, speeches and other documents.
Implement training programmes in conflict prevention, dispute resolution and related topics to foster a respectful working environment.
Organize meetings and trainings, including collaboration with other international organizations.
Provide substantive support on equity and fair treatment issues, including gender, to prevent discrimination and harassment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
Master’s Degree in Behavioural Sciences, Conflict Resolution, Law, Social Sciences, Human Resources or related field with five (5) years of relevant professional experience; or
University Degree in the above fields with seven (7) years of relevant professional experience.
Ombuds Certification desirable.
Accredited universities must be listed in UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience
Professional practice in conflict management, mediation, ombuds or workplace conflict prevention.
Experience in case management from intake to
closure.
Experience in multi‑cultural and regional contexts.
Ability to explain policies and rules in context of concerns.
Experience building trust, doing outreach and providing feedback.
Skilled in helping staff develop options and evaluate choices.
Skills
Computer literacy with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat and Photoshop; experience maintaining websites.
Knowledge of current and emerging practices in mediation and dispute resolution under IOA Standards of Practice.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise discretion.
Skill in delivering respect while remaining neutral on case facts.
Courage, quick responsiveness and rapport‑building capacity.
Mastery of active listening and trust‑building.
Strong communication skills and willingness to grow.
Ability to provide referrals to relevant units when necessary.
