Job Description

  • Ensure observance & respect the dignity of beneficiaries, careers and members of the community at all times.

  • Management responsibilities depending on the need on ground, ranging from heading IYCF team/s to coaching, gap-filling, etc.

  • Conduct critical monitoring of all aspects of IYCF-ECD program, and identify areas of concern or problems. Submit workable solutions for any problems found.

  • Champion on knowledge management by setting up a proper filing system, sharing and application of lessons learned, and expanding use of success stories, and other forms of qualitative data.

  • Document all processes and outputs of capacity building, coordination and management of activities to ensure experiences and lessons are well documented for future reference.

  • Serve as a nutrition resource person in the field office.

  • Ensure smooth integration of program quality and accountability standards into daily works.

  • Support the recruitment for IYCF_ECD staff in the field level to ensure that IYCF-ECD perspectives are considered.

  • Set up a program to support appropriate IYCF-ECD within existing structures and services.

  • Ensure IYCF-E framework is mainstreamed with other sectors e.g. Health, Child Protection;

  • Provide training and/or capacity building to ICF_ECD team and to cluster partners to promote consistent good practice.

  • Advocate for and/or facilitate provision of the most appropriate complementary food for infants (6-24 months).

  • Advocate for and/or facilitate provision of appropriate nutritional support for pregnant and lactating women in the emergency-affected population.

  • Establish mechanism(s) to ensure appropriate support for targeted infants who cannot be breastfed due to different reasons.

  • Design and/or adapt materials for dissemination
    on appropriate IYCF practices based on context appropriate key messages.

  • Provide input for proposal writing where necessary;

  • Prepare situation update reports on IYCF to be included in the situation reports.

  • Plan and monitor supply and logistics needs for BFCs.

  • Produce weekly, monthly and quarterly progress reports and analyses prevailing trends in the camps.

  • Lead the development of a referral mechanism and locally feasible communication strategies for referrals among IYCF, health and nutrition

  • Represent International Medical Corps at Zonal and woreda level sectoral coordination meetings.

  • Create appropriate links, working procedures and information sharing with FMOH and other IPs/OPs in the areas.

  • Conduct performance appraisals for the team with supervision.

  • Participate in KAP surveys, FGD and other assessments as needed.

  • Uphold the image and values of IMC at all times.

  • Report any new developments, problems and challenges encountered in a timely manner to Nutrition unit.

  • Support and strengthen GMP at HP level

  • Support and strengthen complimentary feeding demonstrations and BFC utilization

  • Perform other duties as assigned. The duties and responsibilities listed above are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.

    Job Requirements

  • BSc in Nursing or Public Health (HO) with updated professional license

  • At least 5 years’ INGO experience, experience in IYCF will be an advantage

    TOT training on IYCF or IYCF-E, MIYCN, AMYCN or related areas is a Mandatory Job Requirements
