Job Description

  • Plan, implement and facilitate IMC’s ARC-program capacity building related interventions in the refugee camps and host community areas;
  • Support the implementation of self-help group formation and income generating activities in the project area, especially targeting women and the youth in the refugee camps and host community area;
  • Create linkage and partnership with NGOs and Go’s to mobilize resources like employment opportunities and training after capacity building support and alternative income generating activates;
  • Conduct training for individuals and/or other groups on best practice savings methods, Financial literacy, Business skill and support their saving and loans initiatives;
  • Identify the opportunities and challenges that might impact on the undertaking of individual IGAS; Group IGAS ;
  • Understand the existing policies and institution in Ethiopia that have implications on the target groups;
  • Establish linkages between private companies and TVET-graduates (job fairs);
  • Establish linkages between project beneficiaries individual /group with financial institutes for access to (soft) loans;
  • Establish partnerships with selected employers for job placements
  • Facilitate, through close cooperation with the responsible stakeholders, community and the IMC ARC-program team members, the establishment of self-help groups;
  • Assist established self-help groups to identify on what type of jobs are in demand by the employers and to develop market links for their products;
  • Strengthen and furnish existing women's and youth skill training centers, information center and mobile information dissemination unit; ;
  • Develop appropriate start-up grants transfer system to project beneficiaries in collaboration with the ARC program team and maintain accurate records of the same;
  • Facilitate provision of start-up grant to young women and girls/self-help groups for small business;
  • Support the Identification of existing training opportunities within selected TVET-Institutes and connect their skills
    to the labor demand of potential employers and the market;
  • Support ARRA and local government institutions to create and allocate funds to services that receive additional caseload of refugees;
  • Monitor and follow-up promoted income generating activities in the alternative skills sector, including the economic benefit of potential migrants both in the refugee camp and host community;
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual work plan and activity based reports as per agreed formats;
  • Regularly monitor and evaluate the projects performance, provide timely inputs, feedback and impact of the livelihoods interventions in Dollo Ado;
  • Maintain flexibility to take on added responsibility as and when needed.

    Job Requirements

  • Experienced professionals in a relevant field BSc Degree in the area of Economics, Business management or other relevant fields with at least 5 years of relevant work experiences.
  • Have experience working with youth at risk or potential risks of migration, and networking with diaspora community or returnees
  • Technical ability in Refugee capacity building for migrants/refugee programs;
  • Thorough knowledge and in-depth understanding of irregular/regular migration, refugees and out-of-camp issues in Ethiopia at community and macro-level
  • Commitment to IMC’s mission- Improve the quality of life through health interventions and related activities that build local capacity.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of English (spoken and written) while ability to speak local working language (Somali) will be an asset
  • Preferable to use Office Word, and Excel
