Qualifications / Requirements

1. Education

  • Degree in Sales / Marketing or Commerce
    Computer literacy (MS Office, especially Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint)

    2. Experience

  • Minimum 5-10 years sales experience within the FMCG environment within East Africa region.
  • Distributor Management

    3. Knowledge

  • Strategic marketing principles and implementation of effective marketing plans, product launches, distribution, forecasting and competitor analysis.

    Job Specification

  • Analyzes market coverage and tracks channel performance and recommend channel-specific programs or promotions.
  • Coordinates the execution of e-commerce activities. Recommends adjustments to the channel mix based on changes in performance metrics/channel trends.
  • Manages Market Development Funds programs and activities to best deliver business results.
  • Has a considerable impact on the direct team, providing coaching and leadership.
  • Decisions may affect the operational effectiveness of multiple work groups or teams, important programs in the department, the next higher organizational tier, and/or related activities within the direct functional area.
  • Combines and interprets multiple analyses of external and internal data to form a clear understanding of the market (including consumer, competitive and channel trends) and emerging priorities, issues, and opportunities.
  • Identifies gaps in market understanding and recommends research solutions.
  • Generates deep insights on customers/end-users, based on research and/or customer interactions. Summarizes customer insights to team to guide business decisions.
  • Conducts product portfolio analysis and provides specific recommendations and actions to management regarding digital programs and product pyramid strategies and programs, aiming at maximizing portfolio profitability and growth opportunities, balancing them against their impact on customer value and market dynamics.
  • Leverages brand research and analysis to define the details of brand architecture, or to adapt when appropriate in different markets.
  • Coordinates with internal and external teams the development and execution of integrated brand and/or product marketing programs, including packaging design projects, promotion activities, digital marketing, CRM, promotions, and demo materials.
  • Ensures legal and trademark compliance of branding efforts, promotional programs and corresponding merchandising programs.
  • Performs complex market analysis on customer, channel and competitor trends.
  • Recommends marketing and communication tactics and channel marketing
  • Acts as marketing navigator and brand steward with cross-functional team, ensuring their understanding of key market concepts and measures that are critical to the business.
  • Ensures compliance with industry and regulatory requirements and reporting regarding working with customers.
  • Responsible for various CRM operations activities to service end users, managers, executives and/or channel.
  • Actively contributes to development and execution of all elements of CRM platform design and build.
  • Recommends CRM improvements outside normal operations having major impact on enhancing efficiencies
    of the tool and/or its users.
  • Actively contributes to the development and execution of all elements of the Marketing Plan.
  • Performs complex market analysis on customer, channel and competitor trends.
  • Recommends marketing and communication tactics and channel marketing activities and coordinates cross-functional team’s execution of efforts identified on the marketing plan.
  • Leads customer discussions to try to understand customer needs.
  • Represents the customer in product development and marketing tactics.
  • Provides direction to business teams based on customer insights for marketing campaigns, advertising and messaging, product development, etc.
  • Actively participates in relevant corporate programs/initiatives, complies with professional and quality standards, complies with corporate policies and procedures, and acts in a manner consistent with company values and ethical standards.
  • Analyze customer information for process and customer experience improvement opportunities.
  • Develop reports as required for your managers, as well as Sector or Marketing leads, detailing: competitive environment; opportunities, product, or service improvement; trends in competitive landscape; and recommendations to improve lead generation.
  • Incumbent typically communicates with internal business partners and external customers such as department heads and occasionally area/business leaders. As an expert, the employee also provides consulting assistance to
