International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) Communications Officer III Jobs in Kenya
Job Summary
Support the design, coordination and implementation of programme-wide communications strategies to strengthen visibility, knowledge sharing, stakeholder engagement and impact communication across multiple countries.
Lead the production and quality assurance of communication products, coordinate cross-country communications activities and support donor reporting within a large-scale international development programme.
Ensure consistent messaging, effective knowledge management and adherence to brand, safeguarding and communication standards across programme activities.
Key Responsibilities
Communications Strategy & Programme Coordination
Support the design, implementation and monitoring of the programme communications strategy.
Coordinate communications activities across programme management and country-level communications teams.
Ensure consistency of messaging, branding and communication delivery across all programme countries.
Support timely execution of communications priorities and strategic initiatives.
Content Development & Editorial Management
Coordinate the production of investment case documents, technical briefs, policy briefs, results summaries and donor communication materials.
Collaborate with Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) teams and technical specialists to develop communication products.
Provide editorial support, content review and quality assurance for communication outputs.
Ensure communication materials comply with programme branding guidelines and messaging frameworks.
Knowledge Management & Learning Communications
Support collection, documentation and dissemination of impact stories, success stories and learning products.
Facilitate internal knowledge sharing across programme partners and country teams.
Coordinate webinars, internal newsletters, learning briefs and quarterly programme retrospectives.
Promote cross-country learning and collaboration through effective communication channels.
Influencer & Ambassador Programme Management
Maintain and update influencer, ambassador and content creator databases.
Coordinate implementation of ambassador engagement, vetting, contracting and brand safety procedures.
Monitor engagement levels, performance indicators and participation outcomes for ambassadors and influencers.
Support content creator engagement initiatives aligned with programme objectives.
Digital Communications & Asset Management
Manage digital communication platforms and online content repositories.
Maintain organized digital asset libraries and documentation systems.
Ensure effective storage, retrieval and management of programme knowledge products.
Support content planning and digital engagement activities across social media and communication platforms.
Stakeholder & Donor Communications
Support donor reporting processes by coordinating communication inputs from country teams.
Compile, edit and consolidate programme communication reports for donors and stakeholders.
Maintain effective communication with programme partners and external stakeholders.
Support communication requirements of donor-funded initiatives and strategic partnerships.
Events & Communications Risk Management
Support planning and coordination of programme
events, workshops and learning forums.
Assist with logistics for annual learning and adaptation workshops and major communication events.
Monitor communication risks and ensure adherence to safeguarding, representation and brand safety protocols.
Promote responsible and ethical communication practices across programme activities.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or a related field.
Additional professional qualifications in Strategic Communications, Digital Communications or Development Communication will be an added advantage.
Experience
Minimum seven (7) years of relevant communications experience.
Experience within international development programmes, donor-funded projects or development organizations is preferred.
Experience supporting influencer, ambassador or content creator programmes is an advantage.
Experience coordinating communications activities across multiple countries or geographically dispersed teams is desirable.
Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement, donor communications and programme communications management.
