International Justice Mission Uganda Lead Driver Jobs


Introduction

International Justice Mission (IJM) Uganda is working to eliminate property grabbing in Uganda by bringing rescue and restoration to individual victims, accountability to their perpetrators, and transformation to the public justice system as a whole. As the Lead Driver on IJM’s Administration Team, you will have the opportunity to lead the Driver/Special Assistants in providing transportation and other assistance to IJM’s staff, clients, and guests and, thereby, enable IJM Kampala to seek justice for widows and orphans victimized by property grabbing.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the IJM vehicle fleet in Kampala with responsible accountability;
  • Implement and direct IJM’s standard Vehicle Policies & Procedures, with particular attention to compliance, safety, and security issues;
  • Ensure all vehicles carry requisite on-board documentation and insurance, and that all documentation is current;
  • Lead and manage transport activities in the Kampala office, including scheduling and coordinating weekly vehicle requests for all departments and IJM personnel;
  • Delegate vehicles, assignments, workload and tasks among the Drivers/Special Assistants;
  • Supervise Driver/Special Assistant staff, set clear performance objectives and ensure they are understood;
  • Conduct interim performance reviews every six (6) months and hold one-on-one feedback discussions with supervised staff on regular basis to ensure that performance objectives are being met;

    Qualifications

  • University degree in relevant field (logistics, business management etc.);
    Three or more years of professional experience as a Lead Driver/fleet manager;
  • Three or more years of experience leading teams including vision casting, process management, staff management;
  • Valid Driver’s License, certificate from defensive driving course, and experience driving manual vehicles on rough terrain;
  • Understanding of maintenance requirements for four-wheel-drive vehicles. This includes familiarity with pricing for vehicle maintenance and repairs;
  • Excellent critical thinking, analysis, and oral and written communication skills;
  • Fluency in English and Luganda, with excellent writing and speaking in both; and
  • Computer literate with proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Access and working with spreadsheets.
  • Mature orthodox Christian faith as defined by the Apostles’ Creed;
  • Passionate commitment to IJM’s mission and values;

    International Justice Mission Uganda Security Manager Jobs

    Responsibilities

  • Review, revise and implement comprehensive security strategies and operational protocols for IJM Field Offices, including evacuation and contingency plans;
  • Conduct regular and ongoing reviews and inspections of current security procedures, policies and systems;
  • Collaborate with field office and regional leadership to ensure Regional and Field Office security strategies appropriately support IJM program priorities.
  • Create risk assessments, risk mitigation plans, monitoring systems, and evaluates the consequences of risk and risk mitigation measures;
  • Evaluate current political, social and climatic conditions for possible threats to the safety and security of Field Office staff;
  • Provide guidance to field office staff and leadership, including recommendations for the operational safety, security and protection of staff at all times;
  • Perform safety, security and threat assessments for IJM staff, clients and casework;
  • Coordinate with RSD to represent IJM externally and in interagency forums;
  • Liaise with Field Office Director, Regional Security Director and Global Director of Corporate Security to provide regular reporting and updates on security issues in
    the region.
  • Participate in IJM programs of professionalism and Christian spiritual formation.
  • Any other duty assigned by the Field Office Director

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in security management or related field;
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in managing security operations, preferably for non-profit or international organizations;
  • Proven ability to design, implement and review tactical security operations in the field;
  • Expertise in the analysis of security threats, risks and vulnerability.
  • Experience in crisis management preferred;
  • Experience in security guard/contractor supervision preferred;
  • Experience in VIP and/or witness protection preferred;
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary, cross-cultural environment;
  • Experience in program management and strategic planning preferred;
  • Strong oral and written communications skills;
  • Fluent in oral and written English Kiswahili
  • Computer literate with a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook;

    International Justice Mission Uganda Staff Attorney Jobs

    Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, develop, and implement intervention strategies for IJM cases.
  • Encourage and support State Attorneys in the prosecution of property grabbing perpetrators.
  • Coordinate and lead mediations, negotiations, and other forms of alternative dispute resolution to resolve IJM cases.
  • Represent IJM clients in civil litigation and in the administration of estates.
  • Ensure that government offices (Lands Registry, Administrator General, etc.) take necessary action leading to the processing of clients documentation.
  • Supervise, mentor, and manage the efforts of Associate Attorneys, Law Clerks and/or Volunteer Attorneys.
  • Coordinate with IJM Investigators to investigate allegations of property grabbing and ensure all evidence is collected in an admissible form.
  • Cooperate with IJM Aftercare Specialists in identifying psychosocial needs of victims.
  • Conduct case intake and client screening based on established criteria.
  • Assist in hosting guests, visitors, and volunteers.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
  • Participate in IJM programs in professionalism and Christian spiritual formation.
  • Maintain Practicing Certificate and participate in CLEs relevant to IJM’s casework.
