Primary Function/Purpose

  • The External Relations Support Consultant is expected to support the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (hereinafter ‘NEBE’) on engagement with external stakeholders including civil society, media, donors and other partners.

    Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support development of program documents, including proposals, action plans, and monitoring and evaluation tools for NEBE initiatives;

  • Assist in preparation of strategies and operational plans for engagement with civil society, media, and donor partners;

  • Support compliance of civil society and media partners with election monitoring and reporting standards and guidelines;

  • Support organizing of training for civil society and media stakeholders on election monitoring and reporting;

  • Collect and collate best practices (at national, regional, and global levels) on collaboration among election management bodies, civil society, and the media;

  • Assist with development of guidelines for meaningful inclusion and participation of vulnerable groups, including women, persons with disabilities, pastoralist, IDPs, and indigenous minorities in the election process;

  • Support in the preparation of reports, background papers, studies, concept notes, talking points, and work plans assigned by the supervisor;

  • Assist with schedules, prepare meeting
    agendas, minutes and other communications as directed by the supervisor; and

  • Undertake other activities assigned to her/him by the supervisor.

  • Demonstrate initiative, good judgment, and resourcefulness;

  • Not be a member of any political party;

  • Willingness to adhere to all principles of confidentiality;

  • Ability to conduct self with integrity, and function ethically and impartially;

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

    Education & Qualifications

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in social sciences, public administration, business administration, international relations, public relations, communications or a related field.

  • At least 4 years of relevant experience at the national or international level, on project management, donor coordination, and partnership development.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel.

    Language Skills

  • Fluency in English and Amharic required
