Background

The International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC) is an international organization addressing critical issues such as international food security, the alleviation of global hunger and poverty, environmental protection and the promotion of economic development and self-sufficiency.

IFDC is a registered International Non-Government Organization (NGO) in Ethiopia. The Towards Sustainable Clusters in Agribusiness through Learning in Entrepreneurship’ (2SCALE) is a project that IFDC is implementing in Ethiopia.

The 2SCALE program 2019-23 builds on achievements and lessons learnt from a first phase (2012-18, www.2scale.org). It aims to be a flagship program for the Netherlands’ food security policy and one of the leading catalysts of inclusive agribusiness in sub-Saharan Africa.

2SCALE is designed to incubate and accelerate inclusive agribusiness development in target countries in Africa (Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Mali, Niger and Nigeria).

Public-private partnerships (PPPs) are the core implementation modality to achieve the objectives of the program.

2SCALE is funded by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and implemented by a consortium led by the International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC) and comprising the Base-of-the-Pyramid Innovation Center (BoPInc) and the Netherlands Development Organization (SNV). The Partnerships Resource Center (PrC) supports the consortium as a knowledge partner.

Position Summary

The overall purpose of this post is to support IFDC operations by managing all administrative and assist the financial aspects, logistics and procurement, equipment inventory and proper storage of organizational equipment’s, assets etc.

Main duties and responsibilities are:

  • Organize events travel arrangements for staff and assist with event planning and implementation
  • Coordination of procurements by sourcing for price quotations, assisting in bid openings/evaluations and preparation of required documentation for procurement processes
  • Maintain an up to date asset/ inventory register and maintain record of asset/inventory movements
  • Performs physical count of inventory and monitor inventory levels and reconcile physical inventories with actual stock count and ensure all assets are tagged
  • Follow up with suppliers to
    schedule deliveries, resolve any problems on outstanding and overdue delivery of orders and review supplier invoices and expense claims against procurement related services before forwarding them for payment processing
  • Maintain an up to date filing system for all administrative, procurement, inventory of assets and supplies
  • Receive and review grantee and partner financial reports to ensure compliance with reporting guidelines
  • Assist in initial review of activity and other budgets for cost reasonableness and compliance.
  • Liaison with bank, Ministry of Revenue (tax office) Embassies and Immigration office and other partners
  • Other duties as will be assigned by the supervisor

    Contract duration

  • IFDC will propose a first contract ending on December 31, 2020.
  • Based on the incumbent’s performance, availability of funds and program needs, the contract could then be extended or renewed.

    Qualifications

  • A University degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related qualification. knowledge in Financial Management will be an add an advantage
  • At least three years’ experience in similar position with an international organization
  • Accounting skill
  • Computer skills including MS Office and other
  • Internet skills including use of Outlooks, group messaging and information gathering
  • Numerical and literacy skills
  • Organization and planning skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage assignments/tasks
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Problem solving ability
  • Teamwork-provide a team working environment to the colleague
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision; attention to detail
  • Good communication skills
  • Fluent in English and Amharic
  • Motivated and dynamic on the professional, willing to develop skills and grow professionally.
  • Excellent writing skills in English.
  • Fluent in local languages.
