International Centre for Evaluation and Development Communication and Evidence Synthesis Specialist Jobs in Kenya; The Communication and Evidence Synthesis Specialist translates complex research findings into clear, actionable, and audience‑appropriate products.

The role works at the interface of research and communication, converting technical evidence into briefs, presentations, media content, and digital products that inform decision‑making by policymakers, government officials, development practitioners, and the public.

The Specialist also contributes communication and dissemination plans for new projects and supports multiple ICED research teams across countries.

Key Responsibilities

Evidence Synthesis

  • Review, synthesize, and translate technical data into accessible language.

  • Develop evidence‑based products (policy briefs, summaries, fact sheets, infographics, blogs, toolkits, posters, guidelines, slide decks).

  • Distill key messages and recommendations with accuracy and integrity.

  • Maintain a repository of synthesized evidence products and knowledge management systems.

    Communications & Content Development

  • Design and produce communication materials (reports, newsletters, videos, infographics).

  • Manage ICED’s social media presence and digital channels.

  • Update ICED website with research outputs.

  • Draft press releases, media briefs, and talking points.

  • Ensure consistent branding and donor compliance.

    Stakeholder Engagement & Dissemination

  • Manage the ICED ALL‑IN Network and dissemination events.

  • Organize webinars, workshops, policy dialogues, and publication launches.

  • Build relationships with media, policymakers, and practitioners.

  • Track communication reach, engagement, and influence; produce analytics reports.

    Cross‑Team Support

  • Serve as a communications resource across ICED research teams.

  • Provide guidance and light training on science communication and policy engagement.

  • Develop communication guidelines, templates, and SOPs.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Research Director.

    Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Health, Public Policy, Development Studies, International Development, Journalism, or related field;
    Master’s preferred.

  • 4–6 years of experience in science/health communication, knowledge translation, or evidence synthesis.

  • Experience producing briefs and communication products for policymakers and development audiences.

  • Experience managing social media and digital communication channels.

  • Experience using analytics tools (Google Analytics, LinkedIn Analytics, Meta Business Suite).

  • Familiarity with nutrition, public health, or international development preferred.

  • Prior experience working with research/evaluation teams an advantage.

    Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; French an added advantage.

  • Strong graphic/visual communication skills (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).

  • Familiarity with AI‑assisted communication tools, video editing, and data visualization (Power BI, Tableau).

  • Strong project management and organizational skills.

  • Understanding of evidence‑based policymaking and stakeholder engagement.

  • Media relations experience and comfort engaging with journalists.

  • Collaborative, proactive, and able to work independently.

  • Excellent stakeholder management and relationship‑building skills.
