Job Description

  • Inter Aide France (IAF) is an international development NGO committed to realize sustainable rural development.

  • IAF seeks to employ experienced Natural Resource Management officer/project officer assistant.

    Responsibilities

  • Working under the supervision of agricultural development project officer he/she will be responsible for technical guidance and leading participatory integrated watershed management project in Wolayita Zone Kawo Koisha Woreda.

  • Ensure project implementation through strong collaboration with government services and local communities.

    General Tasks

  • Contribute to knowledge management and dissemination;

  • Contribute to internal and external communication and networking

  • Responsible for smooth project management in line with IAF management principle

  • Responsible for operational and annual planning, monitoring and reporting

  • Provide technical support and exchange with local partners

  • Keep himself/herself informed and updated with regard to all knowledge and technology in the field of expertise, responsibilities and activities

    Specific Tasks

  • Provide technical support for integrated watershed development project and develop adapted approaches and their integration into the local context;

  • Lead the designing of participatory land-use and watershed management and development plans;

  • Provide advice on technical aspects of soil and water conservation measures and agro-forestry system;

  • Contribute to site identification, study, design and supervision of soil and water conservation measures

  • Provide skill trainings for the project team, technical staff of partners and to community leaders on participatory approaches and on comparative benefits of diverse soil and water conservation measures

  • Support the development of guidelines and manuals with technical input on locally adapted participatory approaches with close collaboration of the woreda, zonal government and local leaders;

  • Identify, analyze and document lessons learned;

  • Analyze and report on output/outcomes/impact of technical measures taken;

  • Support the development of technical
    training and training materials.

    Competence

  • Willingness to base and work in the field and in remote areas

  • Self-driven motivation to search for and create knowledge and innovations;

  • Capacity to work with local community organizations such as Iddres, Kebeles and government partners and with other stakeholders

  • Understanding of impacts of environmental degradation and alternative natural resource management approaches;

  • Speaking local language (Wolatigna) advantageous

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral in English and Amharic;

  • Skill on use of GIS and basic computer application software (word, excel )

    Requirement

  • Masters or Bachelor degree in soil and water conservation, watershed management and/ or agronomy.

  • A minimum of 5 years practical field experience of working on soil and water conservation and/or rural development project management.
