Integrity MEL Technical Lead - Services for SDC Somalia Country Programme Jobs in Nigeria

Scope of work

  • The MEL Technical Lead will work closely with the delivery team to ensure that the programme is providing coherent, coordinated TPME&L, and demonstrating the programme’s achievements of results and learning, by providing expert technical guidance on MEL activities.

    Project Background

Through its Whole-of-Government Regional Cooperation Strategy Horn of Africa (CS Horn of Africa), Switzerland has the following priorities:

  • Geographic target: ASAL regions of the Horn of Africa, mainly Somalia, North-Eastern Kenya and South-Eastern Ethiopia. Switzerland aims at stronger focusing its intervention to rural and harder-to-reach areas.

  • Population target: pastoralists, agropastoralists, most vulnerable parts of population (including displacement-affected communities). Switzerland aims at better including marginalized and disadvantaged groups, such as minority groups in Somalia.

  • Thematic target: Governance, Food Security, Health, Protection/Migration.

  • So far, 2/3 of Switzerland intervention in Somalia are being implemented through the World Bank and United Nations agencies. The remainder is mainly implemented through a consortia of International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGOs). Switzerland intends to broaden its modality mix, particularly by increasing direct engagement with local actors (public - such as national or local authorities; private – such as local NGOs, faith-based organizations, local for-profit sector, local academia and think tanks, etc.).

  • Switzerland aims at building on its neutral and independent stance and reputation in Somalia, at fully respecting the humanitarian principles, at working as systemically as possible for Somali-led solutions without emulating international best practices, at building trusted partnerships with implementing partners, and at using monitoring and data for evidence-based programming and best impact.
