The Institution of Surveyors of Kenya (ISK) is the professional organization in this

country that brings together professionals in land and real estate sector.

The professionals fall within six major disciplines of the surveying profession namely the Valuation and Estate Management Surveying; Land Surveying; Building Surveying
and Land Administration Management; Engineering Surveying and Geospatial Information Management Surveyors. Our membership currently stands at around 3200.

The Accounts Assistant shall be responsible for maintaining an efficient and accurate
accounting function. He/she will carry out routine accounting functions

Duties and responsibilities

  • Preparation of ISK’s budget;
  • Establishing, maintaining and implementing financial/ cash controls;
  • Establishing, maintaining and reconciling the general ledger;
  • Establishing and maintaining supplier accounts;
  • Ensuring transactions are properly recorded and entered into the
    computerized accounting system;
  • Preparation of payment and receipts documentation e.g. invoices, vouchers
    and issuance of receipts;
  • Setting up the individual members accounts and keeping them updated;
  • Handling members balance enquiry and following up on members arrears
    under the coordination of the membership officer;
  • Ensuring timely remittance of all statutory deductions;
  • Maintaining staff payroll and ensuring confidential matters related to this are
    observed;
  • Ensuring all expenses are in line with the approved budgets and financial procedures;
  • Ensuring safe custody of all books of accounts and other crucial documents;
  • Preparing monthly and annual financial statements;
  • Handling projects accounting and preparing project financial reports;
  • Preparing members invoices and statements;
  • Preparing monthly bank reconciliations and weekly cash flow reports;
  • An agent for the Institution’s bank account i.e. requesting for statements and
    ordering for cheque books;
  • Filing and maintenance of account records in a manner consistent with the Institution’s policy; and
  • Performing any other lawful
    duties as may be assigned.

    What are we looking for?

  • A minimum of CPA IV or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a busy accounting set up.
  • Attention to detail in matters all financial matters pertaining to the Institution
  • Experience in handing projects related accounts with ability to provision of
    necessary advice relating to financial management
  • Strong supporting ICT capabilities with proficiency skills in Ms Office. Having
    hands on experience in QuickBooks is a must.
  • Must be a team player and work closely with CEO. Have ability to meet deadlines.
  • Should be a person of Integrity and high level of professionalism.
  • There will be need to work outside normal working hours, when necessary
  • Self-driven, self-initiatives, value addition and work with minimal supervision;
    and
  • Excellent analytical skills;
