Insight Axis Africa Industrial Attachment Jobs in Kenya; The Phone Business Manager – Retail will supervise the launch and scale of the Retail PayGo Phone business nationally.

This role will build and manage a national team accountable for managing onboarded retail outlets and ensuring the success of PayGo phone sales, with a critical focus on driving sales and managing customer repayment collections through the retail network.

Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Strategy

  • Build, coach, and manage a national PayGo Phone Sales team.

  • Develop and execute the national retail expansion strategy, setting clear targets for outlet onboarding, sales volume, and portfolio health.

  • Review market data, competitor activity, and customer insights to identify opportunities and optimize strategy.

    Retail Network Expansion & Management

  • Drive rapid and sustainable onboarding of new retail outlets (shops, kiosks, electronics stores).

  • Establish strong relationships with retail owners and staff to ensure effective sales of Sun King PAYG phones.

  • Oversee retail staff training on product features, value proposition, sales techniques, and digital platforms.

    Sales & Repayments (Collections) Performance

  • Own the end‑to‑end sales cycle, from outlet stocking to customer repayment.

  • Implement and monitor systems for tracking repayments.

  • Develop and enforce follow‑up procedures to minimize arrears and defaults.

  • Collaborate with Finance and Credit Risk teams to review repayment data and improve collection rates.

  • Ensure excellent customer service to resolve
    repayment issues.

    Operational Excellence

  • Manage inventory forecasting and logistics with the supply chain team.

  • Ensure retail outlets comply with merchandising, POS material display, and contractual agreements.

  • Utilize CRM and sales technology platforms to track performance and generate reports.

  • Prepare and present regular performance reports to senior management.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, or related field.

  • 6+ years of sales experience, including 3 years in national sales management.

  • Proven experience in managing PAYG, microfinance, or consumer goods sold on credit/installment plans.

  • Demonstrated success in building and managing dispersed field sales teams.

  • Strong track record in retail network development and sales growth.

  • Deep understanding of collections processes and credit management in low‑income segments.

  • Highly detail‑oriented with strong data interpretation skills.
