InformAction Video Producer (North & South Rift Base)Jobs in Kenya;The Video Producer (Field‑Based) will drive the production of documentary‑style content in the field. The role involves filming community screenings, facilitating and recording dialogue, conducting interviews, and producing short documentaries or video reports that reflect local realities around governance, justice, and social accountability.

Key Responsibilities

Production Planning

  • Collaborate with field leadership to plan film projects aligned with InformAction’s strategic themes.

  • Develop production plans including research, storyboarding, scripting, location scouting, risk assessment, and budgeting.

  • Liaise with the central production team in Nairobi to align field content with organisational priorities.

    Shooting & Fieldwork

  • Film community screenings, debates, and public meetings.

  • Capture interviews, B‑roll, and “day‑in‑the‑life” footage to build narratives.

  • Work in challenging field conditions while maintaining safety and ethical standards.

    Editing & Post‑Production

  • Edit raw footage into compelling short films or documentaries.

  • Integrate community dialogue and testimony into visual narratives.

  • Collaborate with HQ production team to refine content with graphics and subtitles.

    Community Engagement & Facilitation

  • Support screening events and facilitate post‑film discussions.

  • Document community conversations, capturing testimonies and actionable ideas.

  • Assist in mobilising and training Community Action Teams (CATs).

  • Provide qualitative material for monitoring and evaluation.

    Safety, Ethics & Compliance

  • Ensure all video work follows ethical guidelines, especially with vulnerable groups.

  • Maintain safety protocols during field production and community events.

    Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Film, Journalism, Media Studies, Communications, or related field.

  • Fluency in English, Swahili, and local languages
    (Maa/Nandi).

  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in video production, documentary filmmaking, or community media.

  • Strong technical skills: camera operation, sound, lighting, and editing (Adobe Premiere, DaVinci, Final Cut).

  • Experience working in remote or resource‑limited contexts.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to conduct interviews sensitively.

  • Strong storytelling ability with passion for social justice and governance.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

  • Commitment to ethical media practices and participant dignity.

  • Driving capability is an added advantage.
