General Summary

  • The Research Assistants’ primary role is to work with the health facilities and the community to ensure that the study is conducted according to the study protocol.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Follow the set study protocol ie SOPs, interview guidelines, consent forms and
    checklists

  • Assess the study participants basing on the inclusion checklist.

  • Obtain informed consent from the study participants.

  • Enroll study participants according to the protocol or stipulated guidelines

  • Maintain participant’s confidentiality and observing all research ethics

  • Conduct participant’s interviews effectively and efficiently

  • Document all observation and fill case report forms

  • Transcribe all audio-recorded interviews

  • Attend study meetings as scheduled.

  • Prepare for the meeting and compile minutes

  • Assist study coordinator in ethics submissions, approvals and renewals

  • Schedule study participant visits

  • Conduct data quality control and assurance reviews

  • Follow up study participants in clinic and community

  • Perform any other study related duties as assigned

    Person Specifications

  • A University Degree in any of the following, Social work and social administration, Social science or other Science related discipline

  • Medical back ground is an added advantage

  • Basic computer skills and knowledge and familiarity using electronics and equipment
    for data collection

  • Training in Good Clinical Practice and experience in clinical research

  • Training in counselling

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Team player

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize, schedule and manage
    multiple tasks in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
