IMPACT Initiatives Senior Research Officer Jobs in Nigeria ;Nigeria faces overlapping humanitarian crises: conflict, displacement, economic pressures and climate shocks. In the Northeast, 8.8 million people require urgent assistance, including 4.9 million children, amid nutrition emergencies and cholera outbreaks. Nationwide, 34.7 million people are projected to face Crisis‑level food insecurity or worse by August 2026. The Northwest suffers from poverty, banditry, communal violence and recurrent flooding, displacing 800,000 people and undermining agricultural production.

Key Responsibilities

Research Planning

  • Anticipate knowledge gaps; conduct secondary data reviews with focus on gender, protection and AAP.

  • Design methodologies aligned with IMPACT standards and partner needs.

  • Develop qualitative/quantitative tools integrating gender‑disaggregated approaches.

  • Prepare ToRs; engage stakeholders in design and planning.

    Research Implementation

  • Identify/train enumerators; monitor data collection.

  • Manage assessment logistics; facilitate joint workshops and analysis.

  • Ensure timely situation updates; document methodology changes.

  • Coordinate logistics, finance, HR and security processes.

  • Revise/clean data; conduct analysis; validate with HQ.

    Drafting Research Products

  • Produce timely outputs (factsheets, reports, briefs, presentations).

  • Ensure accuracy, impact and compliance with quality standards.

  • Liaise with GIS colleagues for spatial representation.

  • Maintain communication with HQ; validate products before release.

    External Engagement

  • Consult partners (gender, GBV, AAP groups) throughout research cycle.

  • Represent IMPACT in meetings; present findings; promote dataset use.

  • Document partner engagement and external relations.

    Knowledge Sharing & Learning

  • Support monitoring/evaluation of research cycles.

  • Document lessons learned; share knowledge internally and with HQ.

    Project Cycle Management

  • Ensure compliance with project cycle requirements.

  • Monitor assets, finances and human resources.

  • Track deliverables; report issues; support narrative/financial reporting.

    Team Management

  • Line‑manage assessment staff; conduct appraisals and feedback.

  • Prepare work plans; hold regular meetings; provide training and mentoring.

  • Support induction and capacity building.

    Internal Coordination

  • Participate in team meetings; coordinate with colleagues; contribute to strategy.

    Data Confidentiality

  • Maintain strict confidentiality; comply with IMPACT data protection policy.

    Competencies

  • Strong research skills; quantitative/qualitative methods; sampling and mixed approaches.

  • Software: Microsoft Office; advanced R/SPSS/STATA; NVivo/Atlas.ti an asset.

  • Excellent analytical, writing and communication skills.

  • Ability to multitask under tight deadlines; independent and cross‑cultural communication skills.
