IMPACT Initiatives Senior Research Officer Jobs in Kenya;Lead the robust and timely implementation of the JMMI research cycle and additional research cycles, producing high‑quality analysis to support humanitarian programming in Sudan. Represent IMPACT externally on cash and market platforms, manage research staff, and ensure confidentiality of all data and processes.
Responsibilities
Research Cycle Management
Take accountability for JMMI research cycle implementation.
Manage additional research cycles end‑to‑end.
Align outputs with partners’ programmatic objectives.
Research & Technical Skills
Develop analysis using JMMI and secondary data.
Provide technical guidance on adjustments.
Produce high‑quality research outputs in English.
External Engagement
Represent IMPACT on cash platforms (Cash Working Group, CCS, Markets in Crisis Group).
Engage with stakeholders (WFP, IFPRI, CHC, Rift Valley Institute).
Provide technical advice to Transfer Value Working Group.
Identify information gaps and develop new analysis products.
Contextual Understanding
Develop understanding of price and market dynamics in Sudan.
Stay updated on conflict dynamics.
Staff Management & Training
Manage two Research Officers.
Promote capacity building across IMPACT Sudan mission.
Internal Coordination
Interact with HQ departments and serve as focal point for themes.
Coordinate with research units to improve research cycles.
Support senior management in strategy design and implementation.
Confidentiality
Maintain strict confidentiality of all data and processes.
Prevent unauthorized sharing of information.
Requirements
Master’s degree in relevant discipline (International Studies, Development, Humanitarian Response, Data Science, Political Science).
3 – 5 years’ experience in humanitarian settings (assessments, M&E, research design/analysis).
Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills.
Proven track record
in cash and markets in emergencies (MEB, Transfer Values, price fluctuations).
Excellent communication and reporting skills in English.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with R, SPSS, STATA an asset.
Good understanding of aid system and humanitarian coordination forums.
Prior experience with JMMI an asset.
Past experience in Sudan or region desirable.
Fluency in English required; Arabic competency an asset.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: 2,580 – 2,640 CHF monthly (before tax).
Monthly living allowance: 300 USD.
Security/isolation adjustment depending on duty station.
Accommodation and food provided in guesthouse.
Swiss private pension fund enrolment (approx. 9.975% of gross salary).
Health, life insurance and repatriation assistance.
Flight tickets every 6 months; visa fees covered.
Contribution to luggage transport (20 – 100 kgs).
Annual leave: 36 days per year + public holidays.
Pre‑departure induction (Geneva HQ) + training (ACTED HQ Paris).
Psychological safety prioritized; health insurance covers up to €1000/year for counselling.
