The Acute Needs Analysis (ANA) is a flagship output that summarizes available data to provide a concise, actionable understanding of risk of loss of life across geographies and population groups within a crisis.
The (Senior) Analyst will lead the production of this analytical product at country level, reviewing and synthesizing data, conducting structured analysis using IMPACT’s global guidance, and producing high‑impact briefs with visual elements.
Key Responsibilities
Development of Analytical Product – ANA
Lead implementation and delivery of ANA at country level.
Align rollout with global schedules and analytical standards.
Build stakeholder mapping and networks for contextual monitoring.
Ensure user‑centered products and support joint analysis.
Data Review and Consolidation
Collect and synthesize secondary data from REACH, UN agencies, INGOs, and public datasets.
Evaluate data reliability and identify gaps.
Support decisions on targeted primary data collection.
Analytical Process and Interpretation
Apply IMPACT’s global guidance for structured analysis.
Use frameworks (e.g., Risk of Excess Mortality) to identify areas
at risk.
Document assumptions, limitations, and reasoning.
Output Production and Dissemination
Draft ANA briefs using standardized templates.
Collaborate with GIS/design colleagues for maps and caseload tables.
Ensure internal review and validation before dissemination.
Present findings to clusters, working groups, and donors.
Learning, Innovation, and Quality Assurance
Participate in lessons‑learned reviews and propose improvements.
Contribute to organisational learning and new analytical workstreams.
Support internal knowledge sharing and training.
Stay updated on sectoral best practices.
Requirements
Qualifications
Master’s Degree in relevant discipline (International Development, Humanitarian Response, Data Science, Political Science, etc.).
Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience in humanitarian analysis, assessments, M&E, or research design with in‑country experience.
Technical Skills
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Proven writing skills for concise external briefs.
Proficiency in Excel; experience with PowerBI, SPSS, R, STATA, or Python.
Understanding of GIS processes an asset.
Familiarity with qualitative and quantitative research methods.
Knowledge of humanitarian coordination systems (HPC, inter‑agency needs analysis).
Additional Assets
Contextual knowledge of humanitarian settings (highlight in application).
