IMPACT Initiatives Associate Research Manager Jobs in Uganda;The Associate Research Manager supports the setup and implementation of the Humanitarian Analysis and Prioritization Team (HAPT) in Ethiopia. The role builds a robust analysis structure to identify emergencies and acute needs, enabling country‑wide prioritization to inform strategic decision‑making. Responsibilities include managing the Acute Needs Analysis workstream, supporting the Ethiopia HSM and Rapid Response Mechanism (ET‑RRM), and producing high‑impact outputs for humanitarian prioritization decisions.

Background on HAPT
HAPT was developed to address Ethiopia’s shrinking independent data landscape, humanitarian access constraints, and gaps in prioritization analysis. The team synthesizes REACH data, joint systems, and secondary sources to produce:

  • Trend analysis and crisis zoom‑ins.

  • Acute Needs Analysis – flagship output on humanitarian needs.

  • Technical support for Rapid Needs Assessments (ET‑RRM).

  • Prioritization analysis for donors, OCHA, and partners.

    Key Responsibilities

    Research Cycle Management
  • Manage research cycles, including design, data collection, and analysis.

  • Ensure research contributes to strategic response objectives.

    Contextual Understanding
  • Stay updated on Ethiopia’s shifting humanitarian context.

    Research & Technical Skills
  • Oversee analytical workstreams using REACH data.

  • Lead research design, tool development, and data collection.

    Staff Management & Training
  • Build analytical capacity across the mission.

  • Manage and mentor research team members.

    Coordination
    Internal
  • Interact with HQ departments and serve as focal point for themes.

  • Coordinate with research units to improve cycles.

  • Support senior management in strategy design and implementation.

    External
  • Lead external engagement on
    analytical findings.

    Confidentiality
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all data and processes.

    Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in relevant discipline.

  • Proven experience with complex research methods and analytical frameworks.

  • Excellent analytical and contextualization skills; familiarity with qualitative analysis.

  • Experience in multi‑sectoral/intersectoral research highly desired.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with R, SPSS, STATA preferred.

  • Familiarity with the aid system required.

  • Minimum 3 years’ relevant work experience.

  • Proven team management and capacity‑building skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to multitask under tight deadlines.

  • Ability to work independently and in cross‑cultural environments.

  • Experience in complex security environments.

  • Past experience in Ethiopia/East Africa desirable.

  • Fluency in English required.
