The International Centre of Insect Physiology & Ecology (icipe) seeks to hire four Regional Project Managers. Part of the MOre Young Entrepreneurs in Silk and Honey(MOYESH) project will be implemented in the Regions to meet needs of unemployed youth and women for dignified and fulfilling jobs in the apiculture and sericulture value chains.

The job holder of this position will lead the planning, implementation and supervision of project activities in the region in harmony with the overall implementation framework and timelines set at federal level, and applicable policies of the regional government. The regional project manager will guide and supervise project teams in the region and oversee effective management of deployed project resources.

The manager will also represent the project on official meetings and events in the region and manage interactions with partnering regional institutions and stakeholders., working closely with the federal MOYESH Project team in Addis Ababa.

They will be members of icipe Ethiopia office which are located Regional Project Offices in SNNP, Oromia, Amhara and Tigray Regions, Ethiopia.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads, coordinates and oversees all activities of the MOYESH project in the region
    Represents the MOYESH project on official region level engagements in the region
  • Coordinates the planning and implementation project activities in the region
  • Manages collaboration
    and interaction with key institutional partners and other stakeholders in the region, including mobilization of resources within the region that complement the MOYESH project activities in the region
  • Manages project finances in the region
    Organizes workshops and regional project meetings in the region
  • Oversees project service contracts within the region
  • Supervision of local project teams at Zone and Woreda levels in the region
  • Serves as secretary of the MOYESH Project Regional Steering Committee, and
  • Prepares and submits regular technical and financial reports on activities of the project in the region

    Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in agriculture or related field.
  • Relevant professional certification
    Broad / specialized knowledge of methods, techniques and processes
  • At least seven years of hands-on experience in research and development of similar apiculture and sericulture development projects.
  • Experience in agriculture or related rural development projects or programs
  • Hands-on experience in the management and supervision of similar development projects
    Multi-tasking skills, with ability to coordinate, prioritize and organize workload, meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Sound experience in stakeholder management
  • Proven track record of initiating and developing research for development projects will be an advantage
